It is swing night club, they usually have a live band and a few days a week they even give FREE swing dancing lessons w/cover (around $10) It used to be called the brown derby and if you saw the movie swingers that is where they were dancing at the end it's a big part of LA history and very swank. If you like thai you should go to Toi (on Sunset), it's the best thai food in hollywood.. just don't sit at the chess table, they never serve anyone at the chess table, but won't tell you that.. you just end up sitting there for hours being ignored (i think it is a trap for non-locals) there is always Nova express (fairfax and melrose), they are open till 4am. it's a great coffee shop with all this sci-fi movie prop stuff around and GREAT music. they have some of the best pizza around and (when they are not sold out) empanadas! they are across from canters deli. a jewish deli that is open 24 hours and the waitresses have all been working there for at least 20 years. if you go make sure you take a good look at the ceiling in the back main entrance, it looks especially cool as a reflection in your coffee. and watch out if you go around 2am, there is a heavy "bar's closed" rush. i have more if you are still interested. =) ~veronica >I'm in LA right now, so if anyone knows of anything I should do, feel free to >send me a letter.
