[Alexandra Horwood Subject: Re: NPR: Vanilla Ice/ Poe related I originally got it for novelty value, but I can tell you that now I AM A PROUD OWNER OF "HARD TO SWALLOW" FROM VANILLA ICE! I have always been a semi-fan (big fan in 1991-1992), and really like his rap-core "skate rock" (his word) that he plays now. In regards to the "remix" or Ice Ice Baby, it's really a reworking/reinterpretation with a verse taken out (the one about driving by the honies) and it's my favorite track on the album! By the way, it's now called "Too Cold". Also, Vanilla Ice has the same birthday as me (10/31). Something I have observed recently is that it seems that some people here aren't the biggest Poe fans. I thought I was quite clear. .it's perfectly fine not to like someone. . I say that quite obviously in my post. .to miss that point requires remarkably selective reading. What I faulted was your wildly innacurate statement that Leah Andreone did not write her own songs and a comparison to Natalie Imbrigula (i.e. Torn, which was written ages ago). It doesn't take much to actually find out the truth before sticking your neck out. .you didn't do that. You were foolish to make a very innacurate assumption and present it in a negative manner. An innacurate assumption is fine as well, but when you make it and use it to 'slam' someone, whether a person or artist you're just ASKING to get quite a few responses. In this case, you clearly didn't have a clue what you were talking about :) Maybe you'll learn from that and actually gain an understanding of the music industry. Just like anything else, it's hardly what it seems from the outside. Now, don't get your panties in a bunch here! Oh! Groovy thread! *two thumbs up* My input as follows... (no particular order...)
  • Poe - Hello
  • NIN - Downward Spiral
  • Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Let Love In
  • Sonic Youth - Experimental Jet Set, Trash & No Star
  • Regurgitator - Unit
  • Hole - Live Through This
  • Ammonia - Mint 400
  • PJ Harvey - To Bring You My Love
  • Scheer - Infliction
  • Mogwai - Young Team Now that I think about it, these are more the albums that I listen to and like the most, rather than the most artistically brilliant/creative albums I've heard... but anyway... Gosh, thank you for reading this far!! Have a delectable !
