Pop just means catchy and pretty melodies, not sell-out crapola music. I have a special place in my heart for pop music. If you ask me, the only reason Poe isn't more pop is that she just doesn't have the talent for it; the first time I heard Hello (the album), I said to myself, "gee, you come close sometimes, Poe, but no cigar." Luckily, she's eclectic and experimental ("let's try this!"), enough to pull it off, and I like her music alot. I didn't think I would like her in concert becuz of that but luckily there's enough energy, and Cameron was such a crazy cello player, that it was good anyway. Actually, I'd say that these days 'pop' is becoming a genre of its own, rather than just an adjective to describe the popular acts of the day. For example, a lot of bands which get classified as 'Britpop' are not necessarily big-sellers, and I for one classify bands as 'pop' or music as sounding 'poppy' according to how cute and bouncy they are, rather than how well they sell. So I think of bands like Blur, Bis, Elastica, Belle & Sebastian, Ash and all those Britpop bands, as well as others like Ben Lee, Blake Babies, Jill Sobule, and probably the Spice Girls as 'pop'. Not the Backstreet Boys tho *shudder*. Just as a little tidbit of information, they were giving away tickets to the B*witched show here Downunder, because they couldn't sell them!! *snigger* Oops sorry, I apologise if anybody likes them ;) okay. I'll shut up now :D *smooch* Alex ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V3 #323 ***********************************
