I bought the CD just on the basis of the picture on the cover, and I was blown away when I put it in the CD player in my car. Her name is Anggun (yeah, I know it is a weird name). I put her up on my homepage today because I absolutely LOVE her CD. I have not bought a CD in a long time that I love, but this one is awesome. She is kind of a cross between Sade, Enigma, Annie Lennox, and Deep Forest. BUT! Before you say, "Oh, I don't like [that person] or [all of them]", she isn't really like anything I have ever heard. She is just plain awesome. Go to your local music store that has a listening station and see if you can listen to her. Check out "Snow on the Sahara" (the title song), "Dream of Me", and "Life on Mars". I guarantee her voice and music will just blow you away. I have only had this CD for 2 days, but she is all have been listening to. I have been driving my boyfriend crazy with it, but hey, what can you do? For more info on her, go to my homepage! Thanks guys... Later Padre Fear a.k.a. This past weekend, the radio station I listen to when I'm at my parents house was having a big festival show -- X-Fest. Anyway it was in Huntington at Ritter Park Ampitheater (which is a joke, the place is tiny with no formal parking). Anyway, Gravity Kills was playing the show, and since I do an Industrial/Electronic show on the station I work at, I made it my personal vendeta to get back stage and talk to the band (Plus I wanted some autographs). So I'd been talking to the Programming Director of the X who just happened to be friends with the band. However since it was such a small venu, with very little area back stage, we had a hard time getting back there. Finally Steve from the Screaming Cheetawheelies (sp?) came over and talked to us. He took us back stage, and gave us a drop. Then he let us fend for ourselves. Once back stage, we saw Debbie (the PD) and Jeff (the lead singer of Gravity Kills), so we stopped and talked to Debbie, and she introduced us to Jeff. Jeff did a couple of drops for us, and then we just started talking. My friend Dustin that went to the show with me, asked me how many times I had been backstage at shows. I told him about Z-Fest, which was in Lexington about a month ago (I got to throw freesbee with Better Than Ezra), and then I told him about seeing Poe in Richmond, VA at Buzz-fest. At this point, Jeff chimes in, so when's her new album coming out anyway. I was floored that Jeff of Gravity Kills (one of my favorite bands) was asking about Poe (one of my other favorite bands). So he and I started talking about the album, and different things that we knew of to be holding it up. And somewhere during the course of the conversation Jeff tells me, "Yeah, I just talked to Toby the other day." I had to laugh. So anyway, that's may story. I'll fade back into the shadows for another 3 months now.
