INTRODUCE YOURSELF My name is Matt Thompson and I live in the Seacoast area in New Hampshire where I work as a database programmer. I am 24 years old and am originally from Belchertown, MA. I don't remember when I first heard of Poe, but I remember hearing "Hello" on the radio and like the song the first time I heard it. Eventually I heard the whole album from a couple friends. Now I own it and it's one of the most listened to CDs I have. What else I'm listening to varies from month to month, right now I'd say Type-O Negative, Metallica, Garbage, The Usual Suspects Score, and a few other things I can't remember. I tend to procrastinate everything that doesn't depend on my livelyhood (ie work), including sleeping and writing this email :-) . I've know about the APs for awhile, but I procrastinated joining until I created a charecter on an internet game called "Angry Psycho" so I realized I better look into the APs more in case I ever meet one of you on there :} - -Matt ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Sep 1998 03:52:02 EDT From: SiSi@aol.com Subject: Re: LAN I have a student in my class named Jairo pronounced Hi-ro. I know a girl whose name is Shithead. It's pronounced Shi-thee-id, but still, her name is Shithead. Would you like to walk around with a name like that? :Þ. Just adding some spice to this discussion. My name's Jim and I live in the Sacramento, CA area. I am 40 years old. First heard Poe on the radio, Angry Johnny was getting lots of airplay. Then I heard 'Chokin the Cherry' and had to pick up the album asap. When Poe played in Sacramento I was there, and, well, I was Blown Awayy!! Since then I've picked up most of the singles, plus a Westwood One fm broadcast on cd, (which I usually play at very loud volumes). Just the other day I saw 'Rise and Shine' at the store, and like much of Poe's other music it seems to hit me at some pretty deep levels. I can't wait for more! I am looking forward to joining the tape tree in hopes of hearing a complete and unedited show again. I'm also a fan of the classic rock bands (beatles, floyd, zep, etc) as well as lots of new stuff. I even have a few favorite rock bands from Brazil that I listen to a lot. Guess that's it for now, Thanks! _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? Just thought I'd introduce myself and make a correction, I listed my birthday wrong (obviously) on the AP, I was pretty tired. My correct birthday for those who are interested is January 17 1978. I just joined AP, here's my stuff. I feel home with fellow Poe fans becasue I consider myself one of the last chivalrous, hopeless romantics. To me Poe's beauty and raw sexuality as both an artist and woman is like some kind of unchained Persephone, freed from Hades grip yet retaining that kingdom's dark splendor. My stats shall come later friends. Sincerely Rob. I just started collage in Manhattan and I'm goin nuts. I'm here 2 weeks and i'm about to jump out my 11th floor window. I'm not angry but I'm kinda psychotic. I telling you all this because last time I felt like this "Hello" was able 2 restore my sanity. I bought it, don't know y, before I went on vacation in Europe. I got real bored and depressed out their but listening to Poes angelic voice about 432 times kept me sane enough to enjoy the back end of my trip. Currently I know only one other person who has ever heard of POE, (pretty sad ain't it). Anyhow I think Poe is awesome and if anyone knows any other Poe-like bands, give me a ring. Also besides Poe I'm really into the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice in Chains, STP, and the Doors. I guess its because even if you never heard one of their songs before when you hear it for the first time you know its them because they have such a unique sound. piece. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Sep 1998 00:26:04 -0400 (EDT) From: Rebecca Lynn Clark Subject: Re: *NPR* Weird Names muddy waters...famous jazz musician...daughter named Crystal Waters...dance diva.... - -Becky =O) Poetry page: http://www.pathetic.org/member-works.cgi?siteid=876026929 Web site: http://oak.cats.ohiou.edu/~acrn/djs/psycho.html On Thu, 17 Sep 1998, Asuka Jenius wrote: > > > here's my contribution : > > in the town of Concord, Massachusetts Dennis Shue begat Shining Shue > > poor girl. > > *Asuka > > > > ______________________________________________________ > Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com > ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Sep 98 0:28:56 EDT From: Jason Crawford Subject: Re: *NPR* Weird Names > > > > here's my contribution : > Keeping this poor thread alive, I'm going to a luncheon soon and the keynote speaker's first name is Smooch.
