The Broncos will repeat...yeah, it won't be easy (it shouldn't be!), but they will...mark my words! The AFC Championship game will be a repeat of last year's brilliant Iliad-like skirmish between the Steelers & the Broncos, only this time the near-sea-level Steelers will have to play in Denver. It'll be another great game, but not as close as last year's...the Steelers will be wheezing for want of oxygen in the 4th quarter, and the Broncos will pull away! Even if the Broncos lose (which they won't), the AFC will win a 2nd straight Super Bowl. The NFC is weakening, and any of 3 or 4 AFC teams (Denver, Pittsburgh, Kansas City [remember, though, that Shottenheimer's a weenie and is cursed when he faces John Elway/Broncos in playoff games], and maybe Oakland--if they get their #%@! together) will stack up favorably against the best of the NFC. Green Bay will *not* return--the Broncos discombobulated them emotionally, and they're still reeling (the pre-season drama at Mile High drove the nail in their coffin!). I expect the NFC will send either San Francisco or Minnesota. Minnesota would be tougher than the 9ers, but SF is in a weak division and should have home field advantage...which won't do them any good when they face Denver in Miami next January. I've seen the future, and it's Orange & Blue! To: GaulAiel@aol.com Dear Doug, Hello, friend! There's no doubt in my mind that the Broncos and Steelers are the class of the NFL...despite the "experts" who predict a Jacksonville (who?)/Tampa Bay (who?) Super Bowl. Yeah, Zimmerman's loss will hurt, but Elway has so many weapons at his disposal, and the Broncos really have distinguished themselves with the blocking ability of both their wide receivers and tight ends...I expect that they'll take up some of the slack. I also expect our running game to move at full throttle, removing some of the pressure off John's arm (though, from the pre-season game against the Packers, I believe Mr. Elway's arm still has its sting!). And on defense, I think we'll be stronger than ever. Our new safety, Eric Brown (who is replacing Tyrone Braxton as our starter), reminds me of both Dennis Smith and Steve Atwater in their younger days. Braxton is pretty upset, but I think that Brown will not disappoint us. And the Steelers...Bettis, "Slash", etc....an awesome team, and a formidable rival. I do believe that the Steelers and Broncos will play, once again, for the AFC championship, and that either team will win the Super Bowl. Good to hear from you! Can't wait for the Steelers/Broncos rematch in the playoffs. How did we not end up playing each other in the regular season? Oh well. KC has no running game and will choke it away again. I fully expect the Broncos to be at about the same level they were last year, the only question being their O- Line. Elway wasn't trying to talk Zimmerman back for nothing. Good luck to your Broncs, and I hope we see you guys in Three Rivers again in early january!
