A couple of Easter's ago I spent the holiday with my cousin/best friend. we were sitting on the couch, and i was throwing jelly beans and she was trying to catch them in her mouth. she caught every single one, but that last one musta went down the wrong way...she made a weird noise and i looked at her like she was fucked up and i started laughing, and she did too. but then we realized it was like lodged in there or something, so my aunt gave her the heimlich and eventually the bean came out. so, while my cousins face has no color, im rolling on the floor laughing. what a good friend am i:) hehe toriniss, steve ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Aug 1998 18:28:22 EDT From: LuvlieGrL@aol.com Subject: Re: Movies In a message dated 98-08-16 23:44:44 EDT, michaelanderson@ou.edu writes: << Man, I was prety freakin disapointed with the Avengers. >> Me too, I expected it to be good, and the only thing good about it, was the fact that me and Erik made fun of it (that and I didnt pay he did!!!!) Jarrod ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Aug 1998 22:38:12 -0400 (EDT) From: "John deBoer" Subject: LTNS! Hiya Psychos, I haven't posted anything in a looooooong time but now my sister has = joined (hiya Asuka) and this has led me to remember the APs and their = meaning for me and our respective places in the universe. And this led = naturally to reading the digests more closely, and this in turn led to = the urge to post something myself, in the sort of reactive way I haven't = done since the APs were quite young. So then, on to it. (This could be = quite long....) First off, Ms. Jezebel from Israel. I took a course in the history of = the Ancient Near East last semester, and when covering Ancient Israel we = used the Bible as best as we could as an historical source. Because of = Poe, I forced myself to stay awake so I could find out who Jezebel was = when she was at home. This is what I found out: Jezebel makes her first = appearance at I Kings 16.31. She is the wife of Ahab, whom you know as = the namesake of the captain of the Pequod but who was also one of the = most heinous of Israelite kings according to the Bible (however, he and = his father Omri, whom the Bible also disses, were probably the most = successful kings of Israel: it was known in some countries as "Omri's = Land", long after Omri was dead.) According to the Bible, Jezebel, a = foreigner, led Ahab to worship the god Baal, a certain sign of = villainhood, which led Ahab to constantly conflict with Elijah, one of = the greatest prophets. She also starts killing off prophets of the = Lord, and eats dinner with four hundred prophets of Asherah, a goddess = who some people say was God's female equal/counterpart until the authors = of the Bible took her out of the picture. Elijah kills lots of prophets = of Baal with the help of the Lord, and Jezebel says, quote, "So may the = gods to do me, and more also, if I do not make your life like the life = of one of them by this time tomorrow." And Elijah, kickass prophet of = Yahweh, gets the hell out of town. Later, Ahab gets depressed becuz a = guy named Naboth won't give him his vineyard, so Jezebel gets Naboth = unfairly accused and stoned to death so Ahab can take the vineyard. = Eventually Ahab gets killed and the dogs lick his blood and prostitutes = bathe in it, all that sort of thing. Much later, a fellow named Jehu = raises a revolt against the Omri-Ahab family, and refuses to make peace = with the current king Joram as long as "the many whoredoms and sorceries = of your mother Jezebel continue" and kills Joram instead. Jezebel = screams at him out her window, and at Jehu's command her eunuchs throw = her out the window. They are unable to bury her because they can't find = anything but little bits. Jehu says, "the dogs shall eat the flesh of = Jezebel, the corpse of Jezebel shall be like dung on the field in the = territory of Jezreel." So that's the life and times of Jezebel. If = she's also in Revelations as someone said, I wouldn't be surprised, = because she's far and away the most influential and powerful woman in = the entire Bible, and also, according to the Bible, super evil. I found = her to be one of the most interesting characters we talked about. God, = I droned on--I hope it's interesting to someone. Okay, that was longer and more involved than I expected, so I'll keep it = brief down here. First I'd like to say thanks to the person who = suggested that people edit the things they quote so we don't have to = scroll through three zillion lines of material we've already read. = Please, if you can just try, it'll make our lives that much easier. = Second, at Bard there is a lot of drug use and I just think, I'd rather = be doing something creative like writing or singing or whatever than = doing drugs. Although it is fun to watch people around me be zonked out = of their brains. Third, hiya Asuka again--and people who are interested = in anime, she really knows what she's talking about. Sometimes we go = shopping together and she knows every teeny little store in every nook = and cranny of her area that sells anime and most of the employees of = those stores know her and her man and my niece by name. Fourth, Lyza = posted something! I thought you'd disappeared forever, Lyza! I'm very = glad to see you. Without you I'd never have gotten my wonderful Yellow = Cab shoes. What happened to yr page? Okay, I'm going to wrap this up becuz it's terribly, terribly long. = Hope you guys remember me!
