Okay, that's not what this is about but it leads into my bit. I was reading Newsweek as I do every week (Time as well. I used to read U.S. News and World Report as well but the subscription ran out. If you would like to get me a new subscription e-mail me privately) and I saw a piece on Limp Bizkit. Limp Bizkit paid to be played on the radio. They paid the radio station to play their single 50 times. This is completely legal because at the end of the song the radio station says that it was a paid advertisement. I am outraged and I have officially labeled the members of Limp Bizkit as a bunch of crap weasels. Here's the thing, I can understand a band being a little angry about not being able to get a decent amount of air time. It's tough to break in and there are alot of politics involved in the whole thing. I am completely for a band paying for advertisements promoting a new album but these ads should only be about 30 seconds. When we allow radio stations to take money to play a band's garbage then we set ourselves up to place the radio station in a situation where all they do is play songs that were paid for. Sure, we get rid of all the ads on radio but we're also left with not being able to hear real underground bands that don't have money to pay off radio stations. You build a fan base by going on tour and letting people bootleg your shows. Then the boots get passed around and you will sell more records. If the radio station sees you selling bunches of records they will play your crap. Limp Bizkit must think it's okay to buy your way to the top. Well I've decided that any band that needs such a ploy is not deserving of my money. I will never buy a Limp Bizkit album. Period. I encourage you to do the same and to write to their label (i have no idea who it is, someone else do research) and tell them how disgusting a practice this is. If you don't think this is a disgusting practice, Screw You! That was a joke...a bit o' Xeno humor. No, but really, if you disagree please, i encourage you to explain why. I've got an open head.... -Xeno, angry as hell http://travel.to/xeno/ p.s. i talked to the dannon people but still haven't tracked any answers down...i'll get to the bottom of it though, trust me you we he she it. This e-mail has been paid for by TVT Records who encourage you to buy the new KMFDM album when it hits stores (Now in Post Production!) ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Aug 1998 18:24:51 -0700 (PDT) From: PeaceLoveGrace@webtv.net (Adam Robinson) Subject: Re: NPR: Limp ("dude he said limp") Bizkit Yep. I was also shocked and offended! I live in Portlnd Oregon, and you may be talking about one of our stations, 101 KUFO. My brother used to work for them long before this happened, and needless to say, I was shocked. Hell Xeno, record your disc, gather up 5K and you'll be gettin' airplay! Easy as pie...I think the whole concept is pathetic. Completely in agreement... It would probably have been cheaper, and the radio station might have given them a little free promo for coming into the studio or something. This sounds like a band that's just too lazy. Or their manager/label is stupid. On a happier note, one of my favorite little bands (Everything) is getting some radio play in the metro area. They're from Sperryville (even though most of the write-ups say Fairfax) and I've been watching them every since they played the smoke in DC about 5 years ago. Anybody else notice them? >old news guys, old news. they had to pay cuz they suck!!! my self and another >psycho already talked about this shit band, though she liked em, (sick).
