Leah (the only person I remember because she was on e of the first ppl in my digest ;) ... I completely agree with you about community of POE fans. Those of you who say that they read NPR stuff because "sometimes it has cool information"...are being a little wierd. If you are on the list for "only Poe", you don't want that "cool info", you want only Poe. Make up your mind. Those of you posting NPR things, should probably keep the emails strictly NPR, and put Poe topics in another email. Whoever suggested the private batch send...doesn't work. Problem is that we get new APs all the time, and EVERYBODY has to change multiple batch senders every time, and multiple batches have to be configured for multiple npr topics, etc etc. Filters will work most the time but people have to be unlazy and learn how to configure them. Another filter topic is server-side filtering. NPR stuff can be filtered out and sent to only those wishing to receive NPR stuff. I'm not a fan of this technique in a forum like this (read community), because it splits the community, but it IS a possibility. I'm willing to help set up a Poe/NPR server side listing service (ie I'll help do the filter programming) but I don't have the resources (hardware/software/huge acct) to do it myself. We can use subject-rejection filtering...which means that if the subject doesn't start with a known beginning like "POE: " or "NPR-TORI: ", the email gets rejected, a copy of it is sent back to the sender, with a note explaining how to properly post on the list. That way, even a newbie can learn how to use the list, without a million NPR-NEWBIE-LECTURE topics going back and forth...it's automated. BTW, I can write the software fron scratch if need be. Problem is...if there is more than one list..."who will join which list?" We split up the community again. :( Of course, the POE-Community list will be auto-subscribed to the regular Poe list...but the regular Poe list might miss out on info posted to the POE-Community list. Ok...enough from me. ;) *Hugs* Frank.
