The other day I was at a magazine shop and I saw "JANE" magazine... They actually had the April issue and the May issue. I looked thru both of them for pictures of POE. I didn't see any... Does anyone know exactly what month POE was/is supposed to be in "JANE"? And, also, POE is supposed to be modeling for DKNY, right? Do we know if she is doing actual advertisements for DKNY, or is she just doing a photo spread for DKNY in "JANE" magazine...??? Regardless, I can't wait to see the photographs... Take Care... What other Artists does POE remind you of if any? > Starting with the easier question -- Poe reminds me of no one I have ever, ever heard (and I listen to an eclectic array of music). "Dolphin" is actually my favorite song by Poe, mostly because I relate to it on some level (but then, that's the way with all great songs, they pull the listener into them). I believe (although I could be wrong, I usually am, just let me believe) that "Dolphin" is about being able to live your own life without anyone with whom you are associating mess you up. The speaker in the song is jammed in a relationship that she both does and does not want to be in, e.g "Sometimes I think you're crazy and sick But other times, I think you're sooo fine;" The big, big bridge is, to me, the easy way to get where you're going in life... pick your destiny/destination, that's where it goes. But there's a broken beam (the speaker's opposite) along that path. She (the speaker) has obviously been walking this bridge for a while; it's only now that she guesses "that whole thing is caving in; maybe it's time that I learned how to swim." Hence, she has to be a dolphin. A dolphin here is parallel to a carefree swimmer -- or at least a happier one. (To paraphrase Douglas Adams, "Human beings think they are smarter than dolphins because they have invented guns, and war, and cities, while all dolphins do is swim around and play all day. Dolphins believe they're smarter than humans, for exactly the same reason.") ... but she's never actually swam before, so it's only right for her to be second-guessing herself and looking upon jumping in with some trepidation: "When I dive into that ocean, God I hope I don't sink like a stone ..." Then she reassures herself: "No, gonna move like a dolphin." I guess what I get out of it is, no matter where you're going, don't let a deceptively easy path lead to you in the middle of a broken bridge. Dive right in.
