A lot of the newer AP's weren't around when the Trigger Happy Jack MaxiSingle came out....so many do not have Padre Fear on CD. What about putting a rare track like Padre Fear on the CD? Along with a couple remixes of the song. It would make it a kick ass CD! It's one of my favorites personally. mp3's can be decompressed into wavs and then are pretty easily put on CD's. I have access to a CDR so if enough people are interested and you really want CD's then it couldl be arranged. If anybody is interested meail me with the tracks you'd like on there. we'll see how things turn out. I will not burn anythingthat is still commercially available. So if it's still on CDnow then I'm not going to put it on there. so jsut let me know if you're interested. Jason - -- "Had they but courage equal to desire" - W.B. Aside from what might otherwise be a local tiff, this involves a station that has a growing world audiance via the internet, and it also apparentlly bares wittness to what happens to an artist/artists (it is a BAND) when commercial interests become the karma guidance. No apologies for my purely amature interest in all of this, I just want MUSIC. It is 120pm east, I just got off the phone with Joey Geusto Station Manager of WBER ( http://wber.monroe.edu/listen.html {RealAudio} ) I asked him straight up, is POE purposely NOT being played by WBER, he replied "not exactly, but she owes us, she "boned" us" I asked how so, and could I quote him, he said I could not quote him and then went on to explain: We made her in Rochester, when the commercial stations would not play her we supported her (AJ and THJ made WBER top 100 in a listeners vote in 1996) They had intended on airing a live concert recorded here in Rochester as part of the "Universal Buzz Radio Concert Series" (See my page http://www.geocities.com/sunsetstrip/lounge/1971 ) However that idea was nixed due to pressures from WNVE ( "The Nerve" ) who by then had some sort of arrangements with POE that precluded, apparently, her association with WBER. As I explained to Joey, I like the NY Yankees, but I don't have to know every single player, and all the stats to enjoy a game of baseball, its a summer thing, that I enjoy, simple. And so it is with me and music, I like POE ( Sp00k@poe.org Duz Luv POE ) cuz she twitches the nerve endings of my brain with her thought provoking lines, there has to be SOUND first, or I will never hear the lyrics, the band is always the unsung heroe, but they are a package, a great one. So here I find myself as the middle man of what must be some legal thing, that if ya talked to Joey, you would feel it was more like a familly thing, he sounded GENUINELY hurt, shunned as it is. I asked Joey straight up, "what would it take for POE to make ammends" he said: "we would love to play the live recording on Universal Buzz" I asked him again about quoting him cause I felt compelled to write somthing to the list about all this, and he reiterated that "we would love to play the live recording for all the POE fans we know are out there" WBER has been playing "alternative" for 22 YEARS...TWENTEY TWO YEARS, nuthin but. WNVE is a VERY listenable alternative. I would venture to say that the listener base of WBER is far more conducive to an AP mentality, gathering in those who are interested in what realy is NEW in music. Bottom line, as always...I am a black sheep...it is hard to ignore the commercial aspects of the biz...POE BELONGS in the WBER fold, and she should endevor to communicate her special messages to those who embrace all that is different, THJ and AJ both in the top 100? it tells ya somthing about who listens to WBER. "Hello"? @ this point the singer of the "Internet Anthem" really does appear to have a "disconnected modem"....I hope all the "legal begals" can do what is RITE to make POES return to WBER a reality. All respects to Robby Black, LAFF.ORG, and WNVE and my sympathies to POE ( the singer :> ) who must be feeling the very "Evil POE" knowing that she is involved in a bad thing, and still moving forward...what do I want to see on the new CD? An affirmation of her roots to the net, all apologies. Sp00k@poe.org EdgarAllen@poe.org etc... I have been tossing around the CD tree idea since last May. I currently have all the software and computer hardware I need to start producing CDs. I have already tried taking some of the tapes from past shows and converting them but due to the lack of a true output jack on my stereo was unable to reproduce to any degree of quality. Hopefully by the end of the week I will have access to a decent tape deck and be able to start cranking out CDs. There is a catch to this whole process though.... I will not do this without permission from Poe first! Second, these cds will be for AP use only... You may not go out and make copies of them for everyone you know... there will be a minimal fee for doing this (the cost of the cd and shipping). If the tape deck works out I will go about getting permission and once I know for sure I will let everyone know and we can proceed from there.
