Big record companies with big balance sheets look at the bottom lines... and we small labels with love in the heart look to what we know best, which is music. Some record labels, fellow psycho, are really about grand and glorious music. That number might not include Atlantic, admittedly. But there are a lot of folks out there sweating blood to bring wonderful music to the world. Don't trust the local mall--and when it comes to the CD you want, ask harder and ask again. If they don't respond, they're the buttheads. Music, after all, is for lovers. Some of you may remember me, Lyza, from many months of me being around. I have been watching from the background for some time. I haven't updated my once pretty current Poe page because of a perceived lack of interest. However, as of late, I have received many emails (averaging 10 a day or so) from Angry Psychos or other Poe fans who have come across my site, requesting information about Poe or about my road trip of last summer. Now, I would be perfectly happy to revamp my Poe-esque empire if I felt that there was sufficient interest from the AP community. I have reasserted my interest amongst my peers to find good editing facilities for the ten hours of raw Poe/AP footage I have. I would be glad to produce this video for each and every person who wants it if there are enough people out there who are interested. The video, as a recap, has footage of APs from around the country, and various concert and general footage of Poe. Its creation would not be as a captital venture and therefore would make use of somewhat-bootleg video and/or music. In previous attempts to create a finished product, I ran up against friction within the list, as APs felt (perhaps quite fairly) that the unendorsed use of Poe's music was unfair. I assure everyone, however, that this is not as a devious attempt to rob Poe and/or the Atlantic/Modern label of well-deserved royalties (we all own the album, anyway, don't we? :) ), but as a project to link the APs together. My point: if you are interested in A) the poe trip video, or B) my poe page, please email me privately and tell me. I also welcome questions about my past Poe experiences, i.e. the Road Trip, from newer APs who haven't heard about it, or mature APs who have forgotten. If you were unaware that I had a Poe page at all, you may dismiss this, or not, or whatever you'd like. Below is a brief description of the Poe Road Trip Video: - --------------------------------------------------- The Poe Video: What it Contains * Footage of Angry Psychos in El Paso, Fresno, Dallas, Atlanta, Washington DC, Montreal, Ohio, Virginia, Rochester, Phoenix and more. * Poe concert footage shot by fellow Angry Psychos. * Poe non-concert footage shot by fellow Angry Psychos. Join me (Lyza) on my 5-week voyage to visit, understand, and record other Angry-Psychos. It is a nearly 10,000 trip, starting and ending in Portland, Oregon. We will see bits of Poe, bits of concerts, bits of surprises, all mixed in with the thoughts and antics of Angry Psychos. See Cocky's clothing empire in California, meet Jarrod in Arizona, party with AP Christina in Texas, navigate the remains of Centennial Park in Atlanta with Rusty, meet an international AP, Rastko, in Montreal, watch our trusty trip chariot blow a water pump, smoke cigars with Brad and Natalie in Richmond...generally a big, watch APs play volleyball in New York... All trip footage shot on high-resolution, broadcast-quality hi-8 video, thanks to Kent Romney. This trip was the culmination of a huge effort, spanning more than 8 months. My huge thanks to the hospitality and friendliness of the APs who housed my entourage for an evening, and who showed us the fantastic sights of their regions. Please email lyza@europa.com for information. - ----------------------------------------------------- Thanks for your time! Lyza p.s. I'd love to get back in touch with APs I visited on my trip. Often times employees have to donate their own personal cd's to the station, which is risky considering how many cd's are stolen at a college radio station (save ferris had to be replaced 3 times), plus the wear and tear the cd's endure. I would donate my GE cd but i'm not willing to have my cd stolen or scratched... I did not mean to offend the smaller labels...they are usually more willing to get their name out, so they give cd's out to radio stations more freely...the big companies could care less about college radio... but they should...many big name bands made it big through college radio. - -Becky (Psycho) Clark =O) Poetry page: http://www.pathetic.org/ (under Rebecca Clark) Web site: http://oak.cats.ohiou.edu/~acrn/djs/psycho.html On Tue, 10 Mar 1998, Linus Gelber wrote: > > > > our radio station received the Scott Weiland single and we had to get the > > Mono (formica blues) cd...because the lovely record label refuses to give > > us a copy of great expectations...so we have no way of playing Today. > > Tell me that i'm not the only one who thinks record companies are the > > spawn of satan? > > Big record companies with big balance sheets look at the bottom lines... > and we small labels with love in the heart look to what we know best, > which is music.
