I have that show.. I think it's funny how they reverse the cuss word rather than beep it.. it sounds cool, in my opinion:) funny thing, I *just* heard god over the radio as I was reading your message. strange how that happens sometimes.... as for censoring stuff, pearl jam's not for you (and another song, I forget at the moment) says FUCK YOU, this is not for you" at one point. I love hearing it on the radio because to this day it's not bleeped out. and what about aenima, by tool? that song is so funny on the radio, cuz every other line is "inappropriate" :) ************************************************************ * http://jragon.linex.com * ************************************************************ Lots of strange art by me ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Jan 1998 18:34:13 -0500 From: "PAUL LEWIS" Subject: Re: editing pisses me off-kinda poe related It seems like most radio stations are getting away with not editing. I once heard that it's alright if the bad word is said in a song, but not if the Dj or someone says it. Pearl jams songs are usually never edited. But Poe is edited. I've always believed it's because you can't really tell if Eddy's cussing or not since he mumbles sometimes. But you can understand Poe or any other artist when they say Fuck or Shit. One time GreenDay was taking over the radio station and while talking to a caller they said FUCK YEA! didn't get dumped. I guess they didn't have the delay ready. Basically censorship sucks. > > > dubbed it off the radio, "fuck" was warped into "kufft" ....that happened > > during "hello", too....and "shit" from TD was "tisht"...does anyone have a > > copy of the show in question that's unedited...'cause the version i have now > > really spoils those powerful moments.......it's like, finally the radio to > > begin playing ani difranco...and what did they choose but "untouchable face", > > and warped "fuck you and your untouchable face" into a very sweet, > > radio-friendly "puff you." and a few years ago, when tori amos [the > > GODDESS]'s Under The Pink came out, and the 1st us single was "god", most > > radio stations boycotted it, 'cause they were uncomfortable with the subject > > matter...i give major kudos to 3rd eye blind for pulling "semi-charmed life" > > heh. This is considered free speech. Most FM stations that are not primarily caller driver shows, do not have a delay/dump button. The machine is expensive, and not used all that often. Re: editing pisses me off-kinda poe related Okay... I think this is worse than editing.... The preps at my school only listen to the music they hear on the radio or see on MTV. So, at school the will be sitting there singing it with well, for example: dubbed it off the radio, "fuck" was warped into "kufft" so at school they would have sang that song with "kufft" in there. Or, even worse, they are TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE WORD "KUFFT" MEANS?!?!?! Ugh- that was my peev of the day. see ya :) AOL AIM- R13Mart07 ICQ 6303119 http://www.freeyellow.com/members2/r13mart07/index.html >It seems like most radio stations are getting away with not editing.
