"i wrote 'hello' about two years ago, and it uses the imagery of the internet as a metaphor for trying to reach someone that seems somehow unreachable. It explores the discovery of new tools, new ways of communicating, and the internet is definitely like that. It's a loss of identity, a discovery of identity, things being fragmented and linked back together in a completely new and unusual ways. I also creatively find the internet interesting as this mass of sort of public consciousness. The first time i ever perused the internet was almost a disturbing experience, because you know you're talking to somebody real on the other line, but you can't see them, and you have no idea if they're telling the truth or not, and you might not be telling the truth. It's interesting to see how people react to you if you invent different personas."~the beloved Poe now i'm sure most of you have already read this, from her biography....but i just wanted to post it for those who haven't..found it interesting..and now i'll leave...... ..til again... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Jan 1998 12:02:20 -0500 From: Mary Supley Subject: Re: e-mail/call stations I do PR work and have a directory which lists contact information for various media. So there's this quiz at Spin online (for AOL members), and it's about the Great Expectations soundtrack (which, like a stupid broke little psycho, I don't have). It gives you a really obscure clue and then a little sound clip as an added hint. Well I figured I'm pretty cool and I know a lot of useless facts so I'll try to do the quiz without the sound clips. Ok, so the clue is: 5. What tell-tale singer co-stars with Bruce Willis in a new video game called "Apocalypse." and I'm thinking and thinking and thinking, and I couldn't figure out any way that I would be able to find information on a video game with Bruce Willis. So I look at my list of solo artists off the soundtrack and I'm trying to narrow it down, and I still can't figure it out. So I give in and listen to the clip. One second into the clip, and I know that it's who else but P(*)E singing "Today." So I'm thinking 'what am I missing?' and then it hits me that I'M AN IDIOT!!! because, DUH, Edgar Allen Poe, "The Tell-tale Heart." So, there's my stupid story for today. Hope it amused you guys :) Anna ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Jan 1998 23:07:57 -0500 From: Robby Black Subject: The day to get "Today" hey..hey..
