Like if I made my return addy "jreddievedderagon@linex.com" I would make a signature at the end that said "remove all the rock stars from my name to reply to me" -- see, here's the thing.. advertising, as annoying as it is, works. For all the people that hate it, there's one or two that make it worth the spammer's time. So people go into big mailing lists and just copy and paste names. Then they sell those names or use them for themselves. Also, being on AOL makes you an EASY target. Someone just has to log into AOL and write down names of who's on. You prove you're a valid person any time you're on AOL. (another reason why AOL sucks) ... so those are a few spam related tips. basically, you can't avoid it. one of the annoyances of the net. although, the trade off is that you'd never be able to download a rare song 10 years ago, so..... :) ************************************************************ * http://jragon.linex.com * ************************************************************ Lots of strange art by me ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Jan 1998 23:29:43 EST From: AspenEd Subject: Re: NPR-all that ooky sex mail Don't worry7.. it has nothing to do with the list... or at least I'm almost positive it does't unless someone's gotten some super secret backdoor access password to the list of AOL people who signed up for the AP list after 5pm on a weekday.. *shrug* no.. I've been getting it too.. :P I dunno how to get rid of it, but you can try by going to the mail preferences section of AOL.. or try keyword: mail..
