I think it's one of Poe's best songs ever....I think a lot of it has to do with the background of the song, which I just found out about tonight... well enough of my blabbing.. just go download the song (riseands.mp3) and listen for yourself... alright.. the soldier is going back to his duties.. :) Ed ed@poe.org "If the world is broken, it's just 'cause hearts get broken." ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Jan 1998 01:13:42 -0500 (EST) From: Mark Cathell Subject: kpr Great Expectations Well...Just wanted to put in my two dimes (used to be pennies, but inflation got so high, well, you understand). I finally broke down and bought the GE cd. After listening to the Poe track, and the first seven, I kind of like it. Although, if I had known that the Greatful Dead were on it...but that is a different story all together. The Poe track would fit nicely on Hello, but as someone said, that is not the direction that the new album should go in. I still enjoy hearing new stuff from Poe. One quick question (for those that have it): is it just me, or does the second track sound like the theme from Immanuelle (sp) on showtime? Not that I watch the show...yeah, I just know the theme song, that's it! I swear... As for lillith fair, Visit Jon's page, he has something for you to go to on the front page. It shouldn't take you more than six or seven seconds to do. Though being in the biz a little, I know that what the artist and fans want, does not always happen. I know that Sarah is playing Richmond in March, maybe as a warm-up for lillith. Which probably means that she is playing near you sometime soon. Try http://www.pollstar.com if you want any concert dates. As for Ani, I saw a compilation that she was on today, while looking for GE. It was called something like Lebien songs. I am not a big Ani fan, and I don't know if the song that she had on there is new...but thought you would like to know. Also, I don't know what the big deal about Padre Fear is. I like the song, and I play it on my radio show when I can. The only thing that I do not like about the song is the ending, it fades out, false stops, and then goes on. the first time that I played it, I talked right over her, goes to show, I guess. But is it really all that rare? I don't have the fortune of having a sound card in my laptop, but the mp-3's probably don't compare to the cd. Do yourself a favour, and buy it. it is like 5 bucks or something. Anyway, for those of you who have made it this far, just wanted to combine my posts instead of having 10 little posts. Well, see you on the Dark side of the Moon. All for now, Take Care, Sincerely, Mark http://mason.gmu.edu/~mcathell ______________________________________________________________________________ ...but the food, it doesn't taste so good since being bombed. ______________________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V3 #14 **********************************
