So in exchange for giving _ some "identity"... (several of the addresses used by _ at poe.org were mine, but it was not me...) _ helped set me up on AOL.... so, with that overwith.... POE RELATED COMMENTS: When the Lilith Fair rode into town in Pittsburgh this past summer, I was waiting in line for the ATM machine, which, ironically was very close to the backstage fence, wearing my angry psychos t-shirt from rochester, which is this really cool shade of royal purple, so anyway, Sarah Mclachlan was actually walking on the other side of the fence, and NOTICED ME... mostly due to my shirt, and asked "What makes YOU an 'angry psycho'?" So I explained the story about Poe, and she commented that "Hey, I would like to have people like Poe here next year..." and she claimed she was going to get in touch with Atlantic and try to get it arranged.... now, I don't know if that happened, but she did seem interested, so it's a possibility.... This is my official one year anniversary letter.... I just want to thank all of the angry young psychos out there who became sorta family to me in the past year, I wasn't gonna mention any names, because I don't want to slight anyone, but if anyone has a problem with not being mentioned, know that I do recognize each and every one of you, regardless of any problems you may have had with me in the past, as at least an 'acquaintance' and without all of you, I wouldn't be where I am today, wherever that may be.... Anyway, I became an angry psycho on 1/9/97.... in Athens, Ohio... I've since been to Richmond and DC on a roadtrip which I have to thank Kristina, Bill, Tim, Kelly, and nonpsychos DebB and Kevin for... without them, I wouldn't have made it on that trip, and if I had, it wouldn't have been the great and memorable time that it was.... Meanwhile, in those towns, the psychos converged, I met a bunch of new smiling faces... Ed, Kent, Clint, Cathy ("Where's EJ?"), Mike, Jim, and a bunch of other people, who I could name if I tried, but those were the ones I remember fluently now... and I also met Spring and the Fertig clan in Richmond... she was a very special person, and I will remember her forever.... so anyway, the Richmond show ended, we got lost in DC ("There's the Washington Monument.... again..."; "I ain't gonna lie to ya....") and then we made it to the 9:30 club, where I met Michele, who will be mentioned somewhat later in the story.... we said "Hi" or something, and I gave her the sharpie that cameron stole from me and i stole back... so the show in DC was cool, we stayed somewhere in Manasas, VA for the evening, and woke up to the van not starting.... and off we went, on the long trek home.... and a stop in "rural Virginia.... McDonald's" ; "What's that P E stand for anyway?" ; "Sports, Sports!" I continued to make silly nametags, and eventually we all got home safely.... The fun continued a month later in Rochester.... but it wasn't all that great a weekend for my health.... I again want to thank all the psychos that supported me when I broke down at the concert, and Bill and Tim for letting us crash at their place.... Post Rochester, I became an asshole, but don't we all at times? I had a lot of personal demons to face, and I did a lot of stupid things, that may have hurt some of the psychos... I regret that stage in my life, but it was something that just happened... and I apologize to anyone I may have offended.... Then came the DC/NC roadtrip, which everyone was invited to, and I got only one legitimate reply.... it was an NPR trip... but it was the best experience I've ever had as an AP.... The plan was to go to DC, maybe eat lunch with Michele, and then head to Charlotte, NC to go see Turtle in the Ren Fair.... thankfully, Michele decided to go with me on that trip.... and we went through some interesting "disasters"on the way there, and had a lot of fun... and even though the Ren Fair was canceled due to inclimate weather, it was fun without it... and it was great meeting Turtle and some of her friends too.... Since then, I've gone back to DC a few times... and for once, get to be happy.... which is really all I ever wanted in life.... So, here's to the psychos in 1998.... I hope this year is just as memorable as the last one! okay, now for my GE soundtrack review.... well, to conserve space, i'm only gonna review "Today".... I didn't like it.... the lyrics are good, but the song just doesn't seem to fit in my mind.... I think I just miss the cello and the drum beat... I will probably love the song if they reconstruct it live, but a song with just Poe and guitar just sounds so.... first album.... to me.... the band is moving in a good direction... I just hope they mesh more as a band on the second album, and it doesn't sound so much like "Today" as it does "Control" or "Anything".... Okay, lastly.... I have everyone's tapes ready to go... I just need the time to get to the post office to send them.... I will NOT be offering tapes to anyone anymore.... not for a while at least... because I feel bad about the delays, and I'm not sure more delays will not arise in the future... Also, everyone, continue to "enter" into Jragon's contest... I won the first prize, and there are more chances to win each time you access his site... so good luck.... and as always, have a very PsYcHo day....
