Crumb... if anyone has seen the movie (crumb) you'll know he's one really messed up indiviidual. Obviously, he's a huge inspiration to me and my art. I don't draw anything like him, but I respect the body of work he's put together. So - two things for anyone that's familiar with Crumb: #1 poe wrote a song about him... it's on the new album #2 I found a book of his brother's work.. maxon. anyone who's seen the movie, he's the guy who sits on a bed of nails and eats a rope every now and then. Anyway, the book isn't just a book of his art. It's a book of Edgar Allen Poe stories with maxon crumb doing the drawings. I would *strongly* urge everyone to get this book and see his art. it also has the story in it that Poe was named for, which is kinda cool. I got Poe a signed copy, so I'll send it to her for Xmas. Hopefully it aint too rare. I know I got the last *signed* copy, but there should be an ample supply in bookstores and stuff. it's called Maxon's Poe. bye now! ************************************************************ * http://jragon.linex.com * ************************************************************ Lots of strange art by me ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Dec 1997 02:55:26 -0600 From: "rboyce" Subject: sorry i am sorry if you find my language offensive but i think you all have heard worse before and i dont think one word from me will make any difference ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Dec 1997 04:57:50 -0500 (EST) From: John deBoer Subject: A message Hey APs, I just have one thing to say cuz I just have to say it. Prolly close to 30 of each 3 cds they have...and then a bunch of singles and tapes too. That doesn't sound like that many..but when you compair it to the other albums we sell, we usually only have 4 on stock at the most, it's quite a large amount. <> I totally agree with you. At the store I work at it's a small chain, so it's not like it's an indie store. So it's hard to get certain things in because they don't carry it at our warehouse. =( And if we do put in a request for it..it could take months to get it from the label. But most of us that work at the store love playing new stuff...and we all like the same kind of music..so there aren't many arguements on what to listen to..and we tend to get each other into music we haven't heard. And the fact that we can basically play whatever we want is cool, cause we get alot of people that come into the store into the music..and we make more sales on those "hard to find" bands.
