I've been on this list for a while -- and have even posted to this list -- but I haven't introduced myself yet: I'm Catherine Lewis, age 19, and I live in Houston but I go to school in NJ. I first heard Poe on a tape of KROQ's "Almost Acoustic Christmas" from last year, although I had heard _OF_ her before that, since some friends of mine (Velvet Chain) opened for her at the Billboard Live last March. (Did anyone on this list go to that concert??) Other artists I like include: Ani DiFranco, Liz Phair, the Murmurs, Soul Coughing, Garbage, Sneaker Pimps, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Portishead.... etc. :) I do have a Poe question: does anyone know anything about her time at Princeton? It's rarely ever mentioned, but I'm particularly curious b/c I'm at Princeton now. Here on campus, very few people have even heard of her, much less listen to her.... So I'm curious as to what kind of extracurriculars and stuff she did while she was here. So long for now, Cath ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Nov 1997 14:24:28 -0500 From: x-jiff-x@juno.com Subject: Re: POE on KROQ Christmas CD On Wed, 26 Nov 1997 20:59:53 -0500 (EST) Proudwolf writes: >At 04:50 PM 11/26/97 -0500, you wrote: >>There are no radio stations with "K" callsigns in the NY area. There are exceptions to that rule, as well as the 4-letter thing. In Buffalo we have a station that is old enough it has 3 letters. (WGR) There are exceptions to the rule you just mentioned too.. In November Annie Danielewski was featured in the SACRAMENTO BEE, which praised her "dark but seductive-sounding major-label debut album," entitled HELLO. On the strength of her hit single "Angry Johnny," Annie, who performs under the stage name of Poe, has opened for Lenny Kravitz and Seven Mary Three. . . . That's under the class of 1990, so I suppose you can look in old yearbooks from then and 4 years back, and find her there ;) - --Michele P.S.
