I signed on to the angry psychos mailing list this weekend because I am somewhat of a poe fan. I have "Hello", I've had it for a while, and I love it. I don't really know a lot about poe though, and I'm hoping that the mailing list will help me learn more, and also tell me when I can expect to see her somewhere near me soon. I heard from a friend that she was in Chicago recently, but I didn't hear about it until afterwards, so I wasn't able to catch it. I am 23 years old, and I first heard of poe through a friend of mine who bought the tape, umm...close to a year ago and let me borrow it. I listened to it for like half an hour and went out and bought the cd myself . Lets see, other musicians that I like are Jewel, Stabbing Westward, and Weird Al Yankovic. hmm...as for other interesting information about myself, I'm not an extremely interesting person. I work at a local Radio station, New Rock 102.ONE out of milwaukee, I intern in promotion's and I'm also an intern on the morning show...and I board op for our sister station Smooth Jazz 93.3 WJZI on weekends or when needed. I've been in the chat room on Poe.org a few times...I'll normally be on as one of three handles...NewRockGuy, Simple, or Shaft(my name on the morning show) well, that's about it, sorry if this is too long ME ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Nov 1997 17:27:32 -0500 From: "Michele Santiago" Subject: Jones cassette 10/22: "Um, Erik...who do I make the check out to? Jones???" Well, I got the answer today--I got my tape, and a little note from Jones saying that the check should be payable to Marfisi Music. Ok I know a lot of you don't read the NPR's but I had no one else to write to and I haven't checked my mail at home for a while and that is where all of the angry psychos mail goes. I'm at school...it's snowing outside....and I have another hour and a half before I go to class. So I hope a lot of you don't mind me posting about nothing. Mine is the "Horny" version (as someone once called it) and has the audience breaks in it. I know this is nothing whatsoever to do with Poe and perhaps not everyone likes getting their mailbox full of NPRs. For that I apologise, but people on this list seem to be so cool and understanding, I thought I had nothing to loose throwing a lil prob at you psychos. If I only get one reply that'll be okay, any advice is good advice. The situation is that I have fell for a female friend of mine and I'm not sure how to deal with the situation, I'm pretty sure that the feelings mutual, but I am still wary of making a move on a girl that's a friend. HELP!!!!!!!!!! Please I am so strung out, if anyone as been in similiar situations, I would be so grateful for any advice. Sorry to bug you with this, but feelings are strong here. Bye for now. Best regards Rob. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 Nov 1997 23:15:09 -0500 (EST) From: "Allan Grimm (The Reaper)" Subject: Re: NPR: How do you ask a friend on a date? Ah Ha! The age old problem of how to let a friend know that you want to be more then friends. This is a problem that I've dealt with on a couple of occassions, and unfortunately, I have nothing but tragic stories. However I still persist, and I am in a similar situation now. I actually have a bigger delema at this point. I have this really good friend that I really like, and I know that her birthday is coming up like Friday, so I told her that I wanted to take her out for her birthday. Now the thing is, I want it to be a date, but some other friends have pointed out that she may not be interpreting it that way. I have gotten some good advice on how to handle this situation, which I will probably follow, unless someone has come up with something really inventive. If so, by all means let me know. All right, I've babbled long enough. I was wondering if anyone out there has read Dan Simmons' Hyperion books (there are four). They are amazing Literature, and I really want to discuss someof teh philosophy with someone. Mail me at Orpheus@poe.org. If you haven't read them, go buy Hyperion by Dan Simmons. It changed my life.
