Point and Stare! Hey Angry Pyschos (the coolest name for any mailing list I have ever seen!!) I'm new....blah blah, so I'm gonna answer the questions like they came to me. (1) Who you are?, ummmm....I am Rita. (2) Where you're from?, Toronto, Ontario (trying to get in touch with some regional AP thing with no luck, can anyone help me pppppplease?) (3) How old you are?, I turned 21 on the 28th of May, 1997 (4) Where you first heard Poe?, Ok, this may quite be the STUPIDEST reason anyone's ever gotten into Poe....EVER, so please, don't laugh at me! ;) I am totally crazy for Alice in Chains, so I would see Mike Inez attend events or whatever with this absloutely lovely woman who I later learned was a perfomer herself who went by the name Poe. Curious, I bought the CD and when I heard Hello I though, *SHE* sings this!? I couldn't believe it, I had heard this song over and over for a looooong time and was really shocked that this was Poe. I guess you can say I've been hooked ever since, there really is no one like her anywhere. Poe's music has something that the rest of today's music it lacking, orginality. AAAAnd not only do I love her music, but I adore her, as a person. Her involvment with her fans is something I never seen before with any other artist...you can't fake that kind of commitment and to me, she is a gem. (5) What other musicians do you listen to? and Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Hole, Screaming Trees, Radiohead, Fiona Apple, Ben Folds Five, Nirvana, Faith No More, Liz Phair and blah blah blah. (6) Any other interesting information you wish to share. I currently have $3.00 in my shirt pocket. ~rita ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Oct 1997 09:23:58 -0500 From: agentorange2@juno.com (Rusty M Shelby) Subject: S.E.A.P. - the list so far so far so good... these are the names i have for the S.E.A.P. list (SouthEastAngryPscyhos) if you do not see your name, you are not on this list. please email me your name, address, phone #, email address, and date of birth. if you are not sure what states are included in S.E.A.P., go to http://www.poe.org and look for Angry Psychos, regional. I'm not really complaining about the new style and music, most of it I do like, but it's like listening to a new band completly. What happened to the good old days? Will we never again see songs like The Four Horsemen or Battery or even Nothing Else Matters? Somebody help me out. Thanks, Tony ahess1@tiger.towson.edu ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Oct 1997 16:09:07 -0500 (EST) From: Adora96@aol.com Subject: New person. . . . okay to start of I guess I'll answer some questions. . . . 1. Who are you? You can call me Agent99. 2. Where are you from? Va Beach, Va 3. Age 18/f 4. Where did you first hear Poe? The first time I heard Poe was on 120 minutes. I saw the video for "Trigger Happy Jack". That was the only time I saw the video. I didn't think of it again until I started hearing the radio stations playing the song. That was about 2 years ago or something. Then that summer I heard Poe was coming to The Boathouse here in Va with 7 Mary 3. I wasn't too much into 7 Mary 3 and I didn't really listen to Poe that much. Well anyhoo the radio station was giving out free tickets to the concert and my friend who always calls radio stations to try and win free tickets called me and told me to keep calling 96X so we can get tickets. I called about 10 times and figured I'd never get through when the DJ said I was caller #9 and I won. I was in shock because I usually don't care for contests that say you'll win free stuff. Well to get to the point my friend and I saw them for free. Poe definitly wasn't what I expected. She was MORE than I expected. I really liked how she interacted with the audience. She even put the mic up to me and asked me if I was "psycho" and I was caught offguard and just said "uh, yeah" And she shook my hand. I was kinda stunned that she actually had the time to talk to me, of all people. I can't wait till she comes out with another album and hopefully tours to this area of Virginia again. 5. What other music do you listen to? The Kelley Deal 6000, Bob Marley, Tribe Called Quest, Korn, The Cranberries, Portishead, Bjork, Tool, Rage Against The Machine, Cake Like, 311, Deftones, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Phish, Jimi Hendrix, The Amps, Primus, Pharcyde, Hole, Nirvana, Tori Amos, Sublime, Peter Tosh, L7, The Clash, 7 Seconds, etc. . . 6. An intresting fact about me. . . I play the drums. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Oct 1997 18:38:48 -0800 From: Chris Ruggerio or Travis Joyce Subject: First time... Hello all; This is my first time writing to y'all, though I have been reading the digest for some time now. Let's see... #1 My name is Travis Joyce I am 27 yrs. old, and live in woonsocket, RI. #2 My turn-ons are....just kidding. I first heard POE at a free concert given by the local radio station WBRU. It was Jan. '95 at a very cool club called Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel. She was all by herself( that is, no other acts) and she rocked. She played THJ, Angry Johnny, Fly Away, Fingertips, Hello, and all the rest. Noone had ever heard of her before so there was a pretty small crowd and we( my girlfriend and I) were able to get right up front. She was wearing her fave. Fur jacket , black knee-high boots, black tank-top with Psycho in white, a black satin mini-skirt, and purple satin thong underwear.(Like I said, we were right up front) Anyway, during the show Cam threw out a promotional T-shirt and my girlfriend caught it. Afterwards, we asked if we could get it signed and Cam took us backstage to meet the Band. It was soooooo cool hanging out with them and just chatting about stuff. That is also where I met Zee and Christina and we consider ourselves charter members of the POE movement. We have been spreading the word ever since and I know I have personally converted seven people to the glory that is POE. #3 Other bands and music that I like... Classical: too much is never a bad thing Classic Rock: Beetles, led zep, Eagles, etc. Modern Rock: Bush, Hole, Cake, etal. The only thing I don't like is Country and Rap. That's all for now, I have to go eat dinner, I shall return! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Oct 1997 19:50:17 -0500 From: "John Beadle" Subject: SPR: MY CUZ MIKE Hey pplz. Well time flies. Here we are again.... Pondering why we are here... Not enough PR and too much NPR. heh I appreciate that the POE.ORG chatroom is still getting its fair share of use. I wish that we would see our Queen in there more often. Then again, I am busy and wouldn't know if she was in... Regardless, it is fun to talk to other Angry Psychos. * * * Nothing too dramatically new in the POE Camp. The new album is moving along slowly, but still expected to be released in the first week of March. To me, that means POE is being as methodic as possible to deliver us a great second album. I know that we will be pretty tough judges. * * * POE played to a subtle crowd at the Garden of Eden Club in LA last night. This was a CD Release party for the Lounge-A-Palooza CD (which is great). POE was dressed in 1940's outfits and she did a four song set. I don't know if she was hanging with any Angry Psychos after the show. PLEASE POST IF YOU WENT TO THIS... * * * The Great Expectations Movies soundtrack is going to be out Jan 6, 1998. POE's song called TODAY is incredible. I can't wait to hear it getting air play on radio stations around the country. * * * Keep strong... Always remeber that POE believes in us as much as we believe in her. *High FIVE to the Angry Psychos* Thank You for supporting...
