Let me make it clear that I am in no way connected to the station, other than perhaps local pride. WBER is Progressive, Alternative, Techno, and POE playing station. There are NO commercials, tho you will hear SHORT sponsor messages, as the station is a not for profit organization. If your looking forward to hearing new releases, that ya mite not hear in your area check out WBER. If you listen to WBER please e-mail me privately. It would be nice if AP's would write the station and let them know your an AP and would like to hear some POE. If you have RealPlayer click on the WBER picture located on my page @ http://www.geocities.com/sunsetstrip/lounge/1971 If you don't have RealPlayer you will find a download link at the same address as above. It wasn't a really big show, but definitely quite awesome. The show was outside a volleyball beach / bar place called the Ranch Bowl. Anyway, it doesn't have that much square footage for a large venue -- only smaller ones. Plus, the show wasn't really promoted. After she bought the CD, I was listening to it in her car and "Junkie" came on, BUT it wasn't the same version that was on my CD. "Junkie" on my CD seems to be more of a lounge-sound with a stronger horn section, cat-calls, and whistles. Her CD has faint cat-calls, fewer whistles, and a stronger bass line. So the question is: Is there in fact more than one version of Junkie out there and does anyone know at what point the different version was released (i.e. after so many copies were sold, or because Poe liked one version better than another) I can't seem to find any info on this anywhere else... It was on the first pressing. 25,000 copies exist. The reason the horns are not on the re-press is because POE couldn't get approval from the people that did the horns to use them in the re-press. OK, I want *everyone* to help me out with this one... http://members.aol.com/vr5sbloom/misc/junkie.wav OR if you use IE try junkie.au to save on download time I want people to e-mail me *privately* and tell me if what you hear is the same as on your cd or tape (please specify if you have a Poe cd, a promo Poe cd, tape, or a dubbed copy of Poe's album). My Poe cd has the stronger horn section, and is identical to what is heard on poe.org when you load the lyrics for "Junkie"; the clip from the above URL has the stronger base line. From http://www.poe.org/kewl/apq.html: ************** Q1: Does the original printing of the record have different mixes on it compared to the current album as it is printed? POE: Yes that is true. The only song that is different is JUNKIE. The reason that we mixed it over is because there is a horn section that we had trouble getting permission to use when we re-pressed the album. About 25,000 albums went out with the first batch. SO. If you have one it would be something to hang on to. "I don't even think I have a copy." * laugh * POE.ORG: Does any AP have this original pressing? ************** It's also been said that the times of the two different versions are different...I switched it on the discography with the last update, but I might change it back again...to see the discography, and to find out where I got this "Junkie" clip, check out http://members.aol.com/vr5sbloom/poediscography.html (to be updated next week.) - --Michele Michele Santiago, shell@poe.org The Spirit of Serramonte Will Never Die! ;D members.aol.com/VR5SBloom/psychovixen.html by FTP and by the {{{{{Web}}}}} VR.5 Viewer's Guide, POE discography, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Live 105 Mailing list for Hibernia Beach Live! hbeach-list-request@eskimo.com Xander: "You've been studying for nearly twelve minutes."
