Yes, this is a purposefully tangential semi-related topic thingy...got it from the last connection between the s-word and religion: What if Lucifer was the good guy? Now, this is something that was brought up by a friend of mine that made me laugh because it actually made a little sense (at least the way he put it). It goes something like this. Lucifer (one of the Archangels before the "descent") goes to God and say "Hey, O. G., why don't you lay off the little guys down there? You know, the 40 days and 40 nights? You send us Angels down to throw your hand of justice on them all the time...fire and brimstone this, turn to salt that. And then you throw in the avacado and giraffe on them. Why not back off, eh?" But God, being God, sluffs him off saying he doesn't know anything and he might learn in a few millenia the error of his ways. Lucifer starts getting with some of the other Angels and before you know it, "Impeach God" banners are flying all over the place. But since Heaven is not exactly a democracy, he got the boot and was labeled a traitor. God even told all the nifty human pawns that Lucifer was bad and not listen to him. Before you begin, I am not x-tian, or a Satan worshiper...if anything, borderline athiest. Just throwing things out in the wind. I thought it was funny...especially with him telling his tale. Let's imagine there is only one brand. It's all basically the same thing. The different religions are different flavors. Maybe you don't like spearmint, or you think that spearmint is dementing the minds of people who chew it, or maybe you don't like gum at all. Whatever it is, we all have our own preferences and shouldn't bother about it (I'm not saying that last line specifically for the mailing list but it goes along with the whole philosophy package). I chew Spearment an dmy boyfriend chews Winterfresh, and i'm a Lutheran in denial. Is that a potentially dangerous situation? my philoropoyt on reluigion (I can't sepll and have no interest in learning how to. ) is that I haven't read any of the posts about religion until this one and i think that you guys should find something better to talk about. But if you don't want to , that's OK because I don't read any list mail anymore. I can't remember why, but I think there was a goodr eason. But, I believe that religion is necessary because in life, we always look for a reason. We look for a meaning in life and proof of god and existance, even though if we ever found the answer we would die. Like moiths to a flame. So there's no point in arguing about different religions, because there is a god for everyone who is alive. We all believe different things, and it is the belief that is our souls. And if we all told people that they should worship our god not theirs, everyone would always fight. So chill out (not you guys, those people who are fighting about religion out in the big world). This has been going on forever (see: The Bible) and will go on for as longas there are people. And after that, who really cares? I believe in philosophy and meaning. My god is knowledge. My mother is a lutheran pastor. My boyfreind's aunt is Jehovah's witness. My dad is Mennonite. Who cares? but speaking of J's witnesses, they are so scar. The religion is all messed up. I could go on forever about how stupid it is.. but I wo't. Somebod please disagree with me because i'm in a philosophical/arguing mood. love angel my post for this lifetime (yeah right) why is it whenever I post, it is long and ranting and completely not poe related? Because I have never met Poe, and I only stay on the list because, I don't remember why, but I think someone else knows. Oh yeah, because I like you guys. Y'all are neat. I love you guys. love angel already said that. Is that a potentially dangerous situation? Yes, Dump him immediately... uhhhh... yeah... If you're Lutheran, (chewing Spearmint,) What do eskimos chew? Fat. (sorry... social sciences joke, see: the origin of gum chewing) Wow! a real philoropoyt... I had one, but the doctors had to remove it surgically... Wanna see my scar? Some people get their answers from the world around them. They're called, "People with a clue" (ooooohhhh... gimme some ice, it's gettin hot in here) Actually, religion is is all of the answers to questions which people wondered about, but did not have the facilities to answer. With the advent of Science, humans have come up provable answers, and since our world is relative, "What you see is what you've got." Try Science some time, it will broaden your horizons, and blow creationism to hell. Don't bother debating me, I've gone through it many, many times and nobody's won yet.
