(I actually wore out her CD) (NEVER LET THE TOP GET SCRATCHED) I'm 19 yrs. old, and first heard Angry Johnny on the radio locally on 105.3, Live 105, our local alternative radio station. After the initial craze died down, I figured it was kinda cool. That summer we went to visit my Grandparents in Hawaii, and I saw the video on MTV. That's when I decided I wanted to buy the album, but we were in Hawaii, and I was broke, so I had to "back-burner" that idea. When we got back, and I was a little less poor, the idea bugged me enough that I went to a local Tower and bought it. After a good once-through, I was hooked. I brought the CD home, and when my older brother saw it, he laughed, but oh boy did he drool over my CD after hearing it. As for other music, I listen to a great variety of genres and artists, all the way from the Count Basey Orchestra (If you think they play classical, slap yourself) to the Fugees, The Cure, to Marylin Manson; but those are all the extremes. Mostly I enjoy listening to alternative rock (groups like Better than Ezra), chick singers (Jewell of course), and Ska (Reel Big Fish is better than Mighty Mighty Bosstones). My outside interests are consumed by paintball, which consumes my money, so I work, so I can buy more Paintball stuff, so I have to work more, so I can buy more Paintball stuff, stopping only to buy computer equpiment and CD's, so I have to... you get the picture... I also like to watch Japanese Cartoons (which are much better than American ones) also known as Anime. If you've read this far, I'm amazed... Thanks! I'm honored. Two more things, (which I might just post regularly, let me know if I should) 1) Instead of a Tape tree, Why don't we use MP3 Encoding... I discovered it a couple days ago, and it's AWESOME! You can get 5 mins of CD-quality music squashed into 3-5 megs of space, It's the best sounding compressed audio ever. That way we can transfer the files around on the 'Net and it'd be faster and easier for everybody to get it. 2) For those of you who think Poe is the only Cool Angst Chick singer, Check out Drill... At least I was. I decided to post it in two parts, since its lengthy. Here's the full story of what went on... It started on Friday. I got to the airport from Milwaukee, and met Tony at his gate. We got checked in at the hotel, and made a small walk around SLC. Nothing really sparked our attention, so we hung out in the room, taking it easy until Shaun and Melly arrived. Shaun told us how Melly was a big stand out in the SLC airport. People would look, turn away, and then look again, making a full eye sweep (up and down). I noticed a few people doing that myself. I'm not sure of the order of the next arrivals, but I think it was Cocky, Roger and his friend, and then Jarrod and his friend Shawn. And it was only a matter of time before the Vodka, and the cranberry juice was purchased, after which the party started. Jarrod and Cocky then took off. We later found out that they went to the Mormon temple with Jarrod's brand new, "high-tech-looking," video camera. Cocky started telling people that they were from MTV, and they got a press pass from the Mormon temple. In the meantime, we were hungry, so off the Denny's it was ("I wanna go!"). When we got back Amato had arrived. And I think that was all the people that arrived that night. A little later, we decided to go to a club called the Bay. Along the way, Cocky and Jarrod were doing their MTV interviews, promising that people would be on our show on MTV called "Angry Psychos," from 2:45 to 3:00. When we got to the Bay, somehow all of us managed to jump ahead in the line and get in the doors immediately. Since we, as MTV production crew, had to get in free, Cocky phoned the manager of the club, and did his magic. It worked, though, we didn't stay long. So we started roaming, looking for other places to get into. After a while it was back to the hotel, and the hot tub. Eventually, we got settled down, and went to bed (kind of). I was sleeping and the damn light kept going on. Then Tony handed me Melly's red shoe. I was out after that. More to come... Did anyone get a bootleg from the Buzzfest in Richmond, VA? I tried to get the Buzz to give me a copy, but they merely gave me the few songs that were approved to be given air time locally. In other words, Hello and Fly Away. And they cut off the really cool introduction of Fly away. If anyone is interested in getting these two songs, I'll gladly send them, but I sincerely hope that someone out there has a tape of the whole show. The Buzz also has video footage of the concert... they laughed when I asked if it was possible to get a copy. It's a real pain in the ass. Poe was saying that when she came to Richmond and played at the E. A. Poe Museum, the Buzz covered the show. She and the band went to a club and got there as the band on stage finished playing, so they offered to play a set. Well, someone called the Buzz and they sent someone over to check it out, and in doing so, PISSED off the other major radio station in town. The other station is boycotting Poe as a result. The worst thing about that situation is that two of my friends work for the "other" radio station and have no qualms about making bootlegs for their friends. Too damn bad they aren't allowed to play Poe. It'll probably bore everyone who wasn't there... Kristina, Angry Terry, Clint, Chile, and Tyman arrived at about 6:00 on Saturday morning (I have no idea what time). All I know is I feel sorry for them and their drive. Well, after the showers were done, Jarrod, Shawn (Jarrod's friend) Tony, Kristina, and I think that's it went to the venue early. They had to get their little passes and everything. The rest of us went off to Denny's (again). Afterwards, we stopped at the hotel, and then headed to the venue, half in a taxi, half in Chile's car. Got there, and Jim Myers, who we thought was still arguing at the airport, was already inside with a video pass. Once inside, we found each other, and hung out in the shade for a while. We eventually split up into several groups, and did our own things... Me and a few others eventually ended up watching Jane Jensen for a few songs. Since Poe was right after Jane, on the other stage, we left a little early. We got to Poe's stage, and the sun was beating down on our backs. Amato started talking to some nice girls who were interested in the APs. Then Poe (and the moshing) started. We were back far enough, where it didn't affect us too much. Though someone landed on the girl that Amato was talking to, which sucked. But she was alright. Poe's performance was great, as usual. At the end, everyone was saying "Poe, Poe, Poe," eager for more. She came back out and sang happy birthday to either some DJs from the station, or some listeners (didn't figure out who they were). She then instigated a cake fight on stage, and I got hit with one of the chunks thrown into the crowd (sticky). Not long after, we found out were the meet and greet was, and headed that way. One thing about that day, was that it was at least 95 degrees, with no clouds in the sky. Poe, like everyone else, was feeling the heat, and had a little bit of heat exhaustion. So we were told to keep it quiet at the meet and greet, which was understandable. I looked at the pics, and Poe looked really out of it in one of them. But she was glad to see us, and she didn't want to leave, like always. After the meet and greet, Chile, Kristina, Angry Terry, Clint, Tyman, Shaun O., and myself all piled into one car (five in the backseat), while the rest stayed and watched Blur (I guess they didn't sound too good). We got back, and I think just hung out until the rest got back. Jarrod came in with some Bacardi and I decided I was indebted to him for the rest of the trip. Sometime later, we were on the hunt for food, and not Denny's food. We ended up at a microbrewery. Most of us didn't really like the food. I think Cocky convinced the waitress that we were in a band. Someone else told her that we were a fan club. She just took it all in. After that, everyone but me, Chile, Tyman, Clint, and AT went to another club. We sat around in my room, then they left around 1:00, and I fell asleep. I was awoken at a little after 2:00 by all the club-goers returning. I think we tried to go to sleep, but it wasn't accomplished. Instead, we had a pillow fight, we tried to go swimming, and did a few other things. Finally at a little after 4:00 everyone settled down. Except for me that is. So i decided to go to the bar and start the weekedn off right. After a honory BLAT, that a bacon lettuce and tomato, i finished my second beer and boarded the 2:00pm flight to the conservative city of salt lake... With aticipation of seeing my co-psychos and fulling more fantasies i exited my plane got my luggage and wandered the airport for 30 mins looking for Melly and shaun.. When i couldn't find them i took that expesnive taxi ride to the hotel.. $15 dollars later and with a greater understanding of the Morman religion, the taxi driver thought he'd fill me in, was flagged down by the mystical melly, jumpy jason, blat and the video king.. So what happens next is beautiful.... We shake hands and talk courdually, then melly and i proceed to the liquor store and buy a large bottle of vodka... Since the liquor store are state run, and there are only five of them, we did a little investigating and sniffed out the closest one... The liquor store only sells liquor, nothing else.... nada so we hike to a gas station, carefully passing over bums and other vagrants asking for monetary donations, or making remarks about how cute melly's butt is.... Anyway, we finally locate the cranberry juice, and head back.. Oh ya, by the way, i love to walk in the streets with melly, she and i make a unique pair.. She was wearing hi plastic boots and knit stockings, those coupled with her long hair and skin toning makes her a real beauty. I with my dyed blond hair and funky clothes and docs... Back at the with the cran, vodka and ice we bought, we mix a couple libations and start to fill our bodies with the same poisin we would later curse. Jarrod and shaun2 show up.. We hand them drinks and continue to look at pictures that people had brought to share. Neew video and pictures are shot as they were all through the trip. Soon we have the entire crew here as Annntonnnnny Fuccckinnnnn Amatto, Twisted Tyman, Chile, AT and kristina show up... Drinking gives way to loose tongues and i end up with a stoli-cran on the front of my new Pimp Daddy Cocky Shirt.... Melly later appologieses and quickly falls back in love with me.. The somber mood of the room, after melly flung her last drink proved to us that we needed food to fill our souls and stomachs... Everyone else but me and Jarrod go eat.. We decide instead to do a little damage to the city first.. Under the guise that Jarrod and i are from MTV we convince the head people there to give us couple press passes to video the Church. Well all i can say is that it is a beautiful area.. The ladscaping and soforth is wellmaintained and their is much reconstruction going on. So we interview lots of people asking them stupid questions and seeing what they will do to get on MTV on a little known show called "angry Psychos" that appears from 2:45 to 3:00 on saturdays.. Shit i think some people told us that we they dont eve get MTV is some areas of Salt Lake. Jarrod and I return after people perform stupid dances, one girl did thr chicken dance, got out of cars and to be part of our little skits and generally did anything we asked... We heard phrases like" I told you they were from MTV" and "those guys are really cute, especially the one with the mic" So we get back to the room with no food in our stomachs and a great way to meet people and get them to do stupid stuff.... But what was even more amazing than that was that because of the camera and lights and mic we got into this club for free! Fricking $10 cover evaporated for 12 people after i chatted on the phone with the owner explaining that we wanted to shoot a little segment and that i would send him the video after we were done.... We left soon after, the club sucked, Jarrod lost his ear piece. We went to the next club where I was unable to work my magic, 21 and over so many people coundn't have got in... Instead we humiliated the manager on the video and denounced his club in front of the long line. Several people led us to another club down the way, but we ended up just walking back to the room. On the way back we set up shop in front of the club that we had gotten into, and Melly did some street interviews and ended up surrounded by boys who adored her... We then proceeded to the room and changed into some bathing clothes... I mean we put on some boxers and headed to the hottub... We partied there,drank some more beer ad evetually called it a night..... Peace....
