I know.. Atlanta was last week... its old news... but Im a little slow and its taken me a few days to figure out exactly how I wanted to say what I needed to say. I won't go into details about the trip or the show... Rusty and Kyle covered that... The one thing I want to mention occurred right after POE finished playing... she waded right into the crowd and signed and talked for a few moments before we led her back into the kitchen/band area. At this point a PH employee grabbed my shoulder and told me I was in a band only area... at which point I promptly replied I was with the band (and I was wearing my Rochester shirt). I was walking back to the bus with Paul and Poe when several other APs and two guys who had been at the show come down the hall behind us... One of those guys asked POE for an sutograph... she stopped and took the piece of paper from him... looked him in the eyes and asked, "Are you an Angry Psycho?" At which point he paused for a second and said yes... she asked him if he was sure at which point he said no... I dont remember the exact words but it involved her telling him he should sign up because we get special priviliges like hanging out after the shows and what not... and she did not let him go any further with us... Why am I telling you all this? Id like to think you can all figure it out for yourselves... perhaps not at first... but read it several times, think about it, and find the message I have tried to convey... One last thing before I finish this up... we are the APs, we get a great many things from POE and Modern records because of this, the fact that anyone got to go to the Atlanta show at all is proof of this. Yet lately I and many others have dropped into the shadows because the people on this list have been acting like spoiled children... posts that are literally about nothing, flames that are sent to the list, countless Im leaving posts... regardless of whether that person is really leaving or not... it goes on and on. Then there is the chatroom... what is going on there? You all are an ever-growing part of my rather large online family... but just once Id like to go in the chatroom and not be bombarded with the sex-related conversations, or the non-stop complaining of those whose lives just dont seem to be going in the direction they want.. this is not addressed at anyone in particular... I know we all have bad days and we all have the right to vent now and then... but come on, it can only go on so long... and there are kids that come into the chatroom... the world is screwed up enough as it is... must we continue the corruption. Why am I including this in a post about Atlanta... this relates to the APs and Life part.. after the Atlanta show I talked to POE about the chat and the list... she did not seem happy about the things that have been occurring... we have an image and a reputation to live up to... sure we are angry, and sure we are psychos... but that doesnt mean we cant be somewhat mature, responsible adults who contribute to society instead of filling it with crap. ************DISCLAIMER************** This post has been many weeks in the making... my chat with POE last week is what finally got it done.. I expect that there are a great many folks who will take this personally and think Im flaming them, just a guess from years of experience. In fact I dont expect many of you will be happy with what Ive said... and to be honest I dont care... this group has been sliding of late... and its time we return to our former glory... we have many new folks, is this the APs we want them to see? I hope not... If you insist on being immature and flaming me... then send it to darthpepr@poe.org Or perhaps we can be mature and discuss this like adults... in which case I dont care if you send it to the list or to me... whatever suits you. (5) I admit a fatal weakness for most female vocalists, Tori Amos being my favorite. Among (many) others I like The Breeders, Lush, Liz Phair, Garbage, No Doubt, Siouxie. I also enjoy your standard industrial\goth\alternative groups like NIN, Ministry, KMFDM, Front 242, etc. When I'm in a weird mood, I like They Might be Giants, and Tom Waits a lot. (6) I just returned back from seeing Poe at the Apocalypse show in Atlanta. I was blessed with the opportunity (among other things) to be pulled onto the stage to dance with Poe personally! Once I followed her backstage and got a few pictures, she told me about the Angry Psychos and I made it my first priority to join up as soon as possible. Any artist who shows that much personal attention to her fans more than deserves my support! Glad to be on board! I've decided that tha only condition under which I would is if I could have someone really cool play at it, like POE, Alanis (not gonna happen), or Tracy Bonham. I can dream can't I? Titania Publications (the company I co-founded) is considering launching a music-based Web site and one of the promo's to register would be a compilation CD. Please respond to martin@entermedia.net and not the AP list, as I don't want to flood everyone's e-mail boxes with banter. Thanks! Ive been noticing that as the group cycles in large amounts of new members that many of the same old questions are getting asked, and there is a lot of information that it would be nice to have in one location... If anyone that has an opinion would be so kind as to let me know privately Ill compile the results and if enough people think a FAQ should be done then Ill get right on it... I promise this is my last post for today Well, as the subject says there is yet another AP gathering in the planning stages... While at the Rochester show it occurred to me I wouldnt be able to afford going to the gathering in Monterey due to existing travel plans so I came up with a little idea.... ****I know this is quite aways off... but I have to start making plans now**** Sometime during the summer of 1998.... either late July or early August, Rick and myself will be renting out a very large beach house somewhere in either Virginia or North Carolina.... plans still very sketchy right now but here are the basics: One house... one week... on the beach... lots of APs... close enough to civilization that there will be bars and clubs for those that wish as well as things for just about everyone.... but secluded enough we dont have to worry about getting into trouble.. I know we will get rowdy... There will probably be a very minimal charge to everyone that comes to help pay for this... that will depend on how good a deal I can get on the house. What I am doing right now is getting a rough idea of how many people would be seriously interested in attending this... SO... if you would honestly consider coming and hanging out, whether its all week or just a few days, please let me know asap... and remember, the more the merrier....
