For mine, it is a link, for people using Netscrape, you have to send the email as an HTML file (which screws up OTHER mail programs) and for UNIX mail programs (e.g. Pine) you can't make it a link. > At 09:24 PM 5/31/97 -0400, Mary Jo Bazeley wrote: > >I found it!!! > >rachel hasn't posted the winner yet (i bet she's scared of the response > >she'll get), but if you want to go the address is: > >http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/5375/index.html > >(sorry everyone...i don't know how to make the address so that it has a > >link behind it) > >p.s.~if any of you know how to highlight the address so it works as a > >link please tell me. Maybe it is because I am in a bad mood and desperate for some flames, or maybe it is something else. I thought we were done discussing this smoking thing last week. I am in college, and just about everyone I know, including me, smokes. For those of you out there who have a real problem with that, I am sure that there are things about yourself that drive other people nuts! That is why there are two DIFFERENT sections to sit at in a restaraunt. If someone smokes, it is their life. You don't need to get upset at other people for something they do. They are not hurting anyone! (And before someone says this, I might as well... they are not hurting anyone but themselves if they choose to smoke.) Really, people, there are better things to discuss on this list then smoking. Come on! Sorry if some people get this twice. Hey!..Here is a VERY long review of the entire Boston experience. It is REAL long, but alot happened. The Trip: It all began Friday. My Cousin was slated to be my traveling companion for the trek to Boston. First, we were going to make a stop in Niagara Falls to check out the sights. (ok, and the casino, but that's also a sight ;) ). Friday at 6:30pm, my cousin bails. So, I called some psychos. Rick Masters just happened to be able to get away, so we met up in Niagara at approximately 11pm Friday. I soon had Rick in the casino putting chips on the Roulette wheel, then to the Blackjack table, oh and don't forget "Let It Ride". Rick soon got responsible, and quit gambling. Not me ;). I didn't quit until like 7am. The Casino decided they liked us, so they bought us breakfast. Pretty nice of em eh? eh? eh? We went back to the hotel to get ready to do some sightseeing. We checked out, and headed for the Falls. What an amazing sight. For those of you who haven't been there, get there. (oh, and the little people in blue suits are NOT smurfs...lol) I took a couple rolls of film, and shot a little video before walking back towards the casino. We weren't going to gamble anymore, BUT we figured we could go get free lunch or something. (don't believe that!..lol) We played, er I played for a few, got my ass kicked, when Rick suggested I play a little roulette to end the day. Well, that ended up being the best decision of the day as I hit pretty decent and we did get free dinner. (because it was 6pm by the time I was done....lol) We left shortly thereafter and went to check out the Sundown-er. hehe (Rick knows all the spots in Niagara....just ask Alendria Quinn). We soon departed from Canada and made our way to Rochester. We arrived in Rochester at around 8-9pm and basically did nothing. Exciting eh? Sun 1pm: Rick and I made our way to Cathy S' house and met up with Cathy, Mike, Levar, Roberta (Levars mom), Tim (levars dad), and Mike (?) (Levars Brother). We started our roadtrip to Boston. The trip wasn't near as long or as bad as expected. It took us around 6 hours. Which is really good if you consider the events along the way. Someone got a ticket..Somebody got sick...And we had no clue where to go once in Boston. But I'd still like to know how in the hell the radio station knew we were coming. As soon as we saw the WELCOME TO BOSTON sign, BOSTON came on the radio. (I actually think that Mike has ESP and he willed Boston to come on the radio as soon as we entered the city, but that is just my opinion.) We finally find our hotel. The lenox. 235.00 a night. ouch. well, we saw our hotel, we parked, then we walked aimlessly for at least 25 minutes trying to figure out how to get to it. lol It was pretty embarrasing to be lost, and more embarrasing to not be able to get to the sidewalk. (I got this on tape, it was too funny) We check in, and notice one of the Hotel Personnel is named POE. No lie..we video tape her. So we now have a pair of Poe's. Hmm I wonder what the payout is for that? ;) At any rate, we check in and go to our rooms. We get ready to do some sightseeing. CAthy and Mike are very anxious to check out Sam Adams Brewery. So we go there. There we find Toby, Dave (no it wasn't Mark..hehe), jones and a little later, Daris. We hang out in the bar for a few, and Rick and I decide to get adventurous and check out chinatown. We eventually make it back to the hotel, wake up Mike and Cathy and listen to Rick's story about FReddy the Finger and Frankie the Fist. (lol...Rick, you should like tell the list about your two friends..;) ) On to part 2: ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 01 Jun 1997 20:00:41 -0400 From: J Myers Subject: boston 2 of 2 Continued from part 1: Monday Morning: We contact Roberta to find out when we are going to Surprise POE with Levar. (ok, just so everyone knows, LEvar is the 11 year old boy who the benefit show in Rochester was for. His mother, Roberta, set up the Levar and Friends Fund in Rochester, and we had collaborated with Paul Fishkin and Modern records to surprise POE in Boston, by having Levar knock on Poe's door) ok..WEll, after waiting for a while, finally Paul Fishkin calls us and says, "Ok, shes up, lets go" Levar knocks on the door, (Poe and the band were on the same floor as us, just down the hall) and Poe answers it. "Oh my god!", "Levar!", the camera's flashed...She was very surprised, and invited us all in to sit around and bullshit for a few. Poe had to get to Mamma Kins for sound check, so we all headed there. IT was around 6pm, we went into the venue and watched sound check, talked to Paul, and hung out. Poe finished up and came out to talk with her many fans/friends who were hanging out. Cathy invited Poe out to eat, and she said "sure". By the time we got outside, we had a party of 8 (not including Dave the Van Driver and Wheelchair Fred). We accosted Poe's van, and started the drive to Turner Fisheries. BUT wait!..As we are leaving, a man in a wheelchair wheeled up to Poe's door and she asked him if he wanted to come eat. He said ya, so we all got out and helped to get Wheelchair Fred and his ride into the van. Very cool Poe. We eventually found the resturaunt, much to the chagrin of the patrons and employees. They had no clue we were coming, or who we were, and we invaded the resturaunt. As soon as we got inside, Poe began running around pushing wheelchair Fred. hehe. You have to keep in mind that this is probably close to a 5 star resturaunt. lol. They seated us very quick actually, I think so we wouldn't run around with wheelchair fred anymore. lol. Poe was very cool, she showed us a magic trick, entertained is with stories, and had a blast trying to get cream cheese. Poe and Dave (the bus driver who Poe invited and bought his dinner too). Had to leave early so Poe could get ready for the show. We hung out and finished eating. As we were leaving, the manager came up to me and said, "I am sorry, I just spoke with my son, I had no idea how famous you guys were". I chuckled a little and said, "well, thats ok..but do us a favor and tell us something on video tape". After assuring him we weren't affiliated with Hard Copy, he agreed and told Poe that she was welcome back to Turner Fisheries anytime. lol. We arrived back at the lenox, and hung out and waited for Poe so we could get back to the venue. She eventually came down and we headed for Mamma Kins. The show was incredible. During Angry Johnny, Levar came out and beat on the drums for a few with Poe. It was so cool, he didn't want to quit smashing the cymbals, and Poe had to literally drag him away. I nearly got killed as I tried to get some photos from center stage. People flying everywhere, but I got the shots. ;) Poe was in the crowd quite a lot for this show. She stood on the rail (that separates the front men from the crowd) and sang at least one song, and dove in twice (maybe more, can't really remember). All in all it was an amazing show. One of the best I've seen. After the show, we (Mike, Cathy, Rick and I) traveled back to the hotel to say our goodbyes to Levar and his family. When we entered the room, Poe was there hanging out. "having a Pajama party". It was a perfect ending to a perfect day, and an incredible weekend. It was great to meet the AP's that I met there; Zee, Cristina, and many others. It was very cool to be a part of Poe's surprise. (thanks Roberta, and everyone at Modern). And it was incredble to be an Angry-Psycho. The photos from this adventure will be posted within a week, I will post when they are all up. (lol...Rick, you should like tell the list about your two friends..;) ) Monday Morning: We contact Roberta to find out when we are going to Surprise POE with Levar. The photos from this adventure will be posted within a week, I will post when they are all up. later Jim Myers ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 01 Jun 1997 17:45:06 -0700 From: Casey Hansen Subject: Re: MMM BOP (lyrics) Okay, people, when speaking of Hanson, please refer to them as Hanson, not Hansen! This is most likely going to be rambling and confusing but it's been a long day. Three of us (Jason, me and our friend Gil) left Richmond, VA around 8:30 this morning and arrived at Walnut Creek right around noon. We meet up with the other APs (well ok, we actually meet them for the first time as well) outside the gate. Got the cool AP T-shirts, red with grey lettering. Waited around for a while then went inside. As soon as Jason and I went inside this guy came up and asked us who the Angry Psychos were. He thought they were a band, but Jason explained that we are actually much cooler then that. Lots of people kept coming up and asking about Poe and the APs. Even more so after she performed, but I get ahead of myself. We all meet again around 2 and got Cellar Door stickers that said we are official POE fans and then went on in to see the lady perform. I would say that most of us were sitting right behind the VIP seats with tables on the aisle. I don't have the set list but others wrote it down. I'll just give some highlights of the actual music. She played Hello, That Day, Fly Away, Angry Psychos (which she pointed to us and even mentioned the web page for others to goto and check it out), and a bunch of others. During the second(?) song she was hopping around on stage and the next thing I knew she was sitting on the edge of the drum set. It was a nice recovery from a little slip there. She of course jumped all over the stage and into the little front protected area throughout the show. BUT, she also jumped over the barrier and ran up the aisle to where we were sitting and jumped on top of us and crowd surfed for a little while. Very, very cool. Cameron also did his ACDC thing on the chello, also incredible. My thoughts on her performance. I was sad that Cameron started to play Dolphin but then they ended up not playing it. Don't tease me like that. You make me want to be a dolphin and then take away my ocean. Also, IT WAS TOO SHORT. She needed to play much longer. The only other show of POE's that I've seen was in Richmond at the BuzzFest. She played a little longer set but I wasn't an AP then so I didn't get any of the fringe benefits like actually meeting POE. Poe needs to come to Richmond and play a full show all by herself, please. The only complaint I had about the show was the actual venue itself and security. I don't think these guys liked us very much. It was difficult to get everyone to see POE after the show. They did not issue any all-access passes no matter what and were quite anal about other things as well. Another good thing about the show, Newcastle on tap, although it was expensive as at any concert. Finally, we get to meet POE. After waiting for a year and a day and through several intense rain storms (it didn't rain until after POE was finished). It was worth it. She has to be one of the nicest and friendliest people I've ever meet. She called us all in to a tent with a table set up so she could sign stuff. She took her time with everyone and actually talked to them rather then just signing something and handing it back as fast as possible even though she was rushed for time. It was also neat to see her take time with one of her younger fans, Sara (she was maybe 8 or 10?). That's something that will stick with that girl the rest of her life and POE spent the time with her. She also actually remembers all of these crazy Angry Psycho people. I definately need to go to more POE concerts so she'll remember me too. *grin* My impression of POE just keeps going up and up. Brad had a digital camera which he "borrowed" from work and took a bunch of pictures that he said he will try to put up by the end of the week at the latest. There were also lots of other cameras and picture taking as well. I wanna see those pictures. I could go on and on about how cool my day was but others have Raleigh accounts to post as well. I'll leave you guys with the final cool thing that happened. As we were driving back to Richmond, listening to POE's cd, there was a rainbow in the sky with its base pointing right were Richmond would be over the horizon. *chills* AP Love to everyone I meet today and those of you I didn't really get a chance to talk to as well as all the AP people that couldn't make it.
