(he is the first die hard poe fan i met about a year ago in boston.) so we hung around a bit and then zee and his friend pull up and the party begins.... (zee being the craziest poe fan i know, besides me of course) so there we are hanging outside mamakin music hall in boston at around 5:00. everyone decides that they're hungry or want to go get some drinks, so they all disperse leaving me alone (by choice). and boy was i glad i stayed, because not even ten minutes later, who pulls up in a van but poe. she gets out and is immediately confronted by yet another fan who showers her with a tpae and aome other gifts. then i decide to go up to her and give her the roses i bought for her as well as a great big hug... seeing as how it'd been about 6 or more months since i saw them last. she asked me if i was all set for getting in, and knowing that zee's friend, adam, didn't have a ticket, i asked to be put on the guest list, so i could give my ticket to adam. well, she went in to do the sound check and about five minutes later, zee and adam come walking down the street. i run up to them to let them know the deal, and happiness was all around. so we went in for the sound check and met some ANGRY PSYCHOS..... forgive me guys, but i only remember kathy, mike and jim???? was it jim? anyway, they are the coolest people... after the sound check adam, zee, and i were talking with poe and the AP's asked if poe wanted to go out to dinner... and she said yes, inviting us along also. we gathered our things and went outside, decided how to get there, and ended up taking the van provided for poe and the band. and the driver was really cool. anyway, we went to this fancy-ish seafood place, and had a blast.... poe was the queen and wheelchair fred became king. the night was full of laughs when poe wanted cream cheese with her salmon, but the waiter didn't seem to appreciate it when poe told him that she was "the queen of all rock stars" and demanded cream cheese... well after waiting about five minutes, we all decided she wasn't getting any... but then the waiter came over with a bowl full of cream cheese packages for her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! poe had to leave early to get ready for the show, but we finished our meal and as we were leaving the manager approached us and said : " my son just called and told me how famous you guys were i'm so sorry, i didn't know." so all happy, we left the place and joined back up with poe and the van. and travelled to the venue. the show was amazing!!!! the BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE. not only was the music great as always, but there was just something about the show that i couldn't stop smiling. the crowd was kinda rough(moshing to fly away) but i didn't let that ruin anything. when poe sang beautiful girl, zee grabbed me and helped me get on stage, along with my friend chris, oh how thankful i am to you both. that just topped off my night, as poe sang we danced on stage and i was elated. anyway, i rejoined the crowd, and she finished off her set with how long... my favorite song... afetr that, i hung around for gravity kills first three songs, and joined my friends and the bar. sitting around talking about how great the night was. i met up with cameron and spoke with him a bit. my night was complete. of course a goodbye hug from poe, and the angry psychos, and off i went home sweet home, to dreamland again...... I LOVE POE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and to anyone who hasn't had the honor of meeting any of the ap's they friggin rock the universe..... Saturday may 24 CIV,Orange 9mm, Cast Iron Hike, Sweet Deisel New York City, At Tramps Hightlights: Alright show, the turn out was not very good at firsted only sold 300 tickets but towards end of show there were 700+ people there. Cast Iron Hike from boston played a tight set. Orange 9mm were soo bad, they did not play any old songs it was just bad. CIV was great played alot of new songs which were very good. Crowd: Most of the kids were cool and knew how to dance, only a few out of place people. Sunday May 25 Allstonians, 2 others Boston Area, At Paradise Highlights: Turn out was very bad for this RADIO FREE ALLSTON benfit show about 30 people at the most but the club was very nice, Alstonians put on a great set but did not play b train. Crowd: Cool, really did not know how to dance in style, Come on guys is a SKA SHOW! Monday May 26 POE, Odds, Gravity Kills Boston , Mama Kims Hightlights: This club is really nice and the Back stage? Dressing Rooms are one of the best i seen for a conert hall which is sorta small. Guy from Aerosmith owns the club, they had little angles all around the wall in the dressing room which i want to steal but did not get a chance too. Odds were alright from what i senn, were nothing to great from these guys but i was not expecting anything. Poe was on next the played a great set, Crowd: Where did they get these people? first the same three people were crowded surfing, give it up and judging by style it seems like the first time they did it. (nothing wrong with that) but please learn how to do it do not kick people and try to hurt people. And the one girl was doing it was just dumb. People did not know how to dance, since all they were doing were pushing each other. The music was great but the crwd was kinda weak. A few night before at was at CIv in the front , people were jumping around, diving off the stage, doing some crazy kicks, and other dances which look violent. I did not get hurt or get kicked. The Poe show i got hit about every ten seconds, and got beer poured all over me. Guys do not drink in the pit. I first saw Poe at the 9:30 club in DC last summer and loved her. I bought her album about a month after it came out and loved it, so going to the show was a big thrill. (although 7 mary 3 pisses me off) anyway, she came back into the DC area about two weeks later, towards the end of June.. this time she was coming to a golf course to play an acoustic set (i have the bootleg if anyone wants it... probably her most rare public appearance that I can think of..) anyway, I like to doodle a lot, so I had some fan mail to give her with a design on the front. when I approached her, she thanked me for the mail and then freaked out when she saw the doodle - to make a long story short, I'm designing the cover to her next single, "How Long". <-- I love that song. she thinks I'm awesome. She has a lot more faith in my art than I do, but hey - It's still pushing me to get better. Through this whole thing, I've seen her in concert 4 times; the most recent one was pretty huge.. it was in March the day after the Las Vagas show. I remember because she was still reeling from all the APs and the coats that were made. Anyway, a representive from Atlantic records pulled me out of the mosh pit, handed me two backstage passes and told me to meet her after the show. I was excited because the mighty might bosstones, cardigans, theyMBgiants, and 6 others were there. but for some reason I told her I didn't care about getting backstage; I just wanted to go on POE's bus again. I'm really getting excited for this June 1st thing. I haven't really meet any APs yet and can't wait to meet you guys. I just joined after the Buzzfest in Richmond, VA. Hearing about all the wonderful experiences everyone is having with Poe and each other is making me jump up and down in my seat. Stop it. People are looking at me. *grin* It's great that people who share a love of something (could it be POE?) can get together and become great friends. A lot of us would probably not give each other a second glance if it wasn't for POE. See, as soon as everyone hears Poe, there will be no more wars and world peace (smokers and non-smokers alike *duck*). Anyway, I'm rambling. I just wanted to say I cannot wait until June 1st.
