A slightly harrowing stay, but not any worse than various other weeks of my life. Dad's kidney failure is pretty much a moot point with the benefit of dialysis and the problem still remains his lungs--he is still on a ventilator, which he hates, and makes it impossible for him to talk--but he was alert and able to communicate through his expression and nods of yes or no. The only problem is that he and my stepmother have pretty much given up all hope, even though the doctors emphasize that there is nothing irreversible in his condition. Personally I don't believe in giving up hope. Anyway the good part of my stay can be summed up in three words: Kerste Beth Milik. My niece is 10 months old now and unbelievably wonderful to have around. I wish she was allowed to visit my father, but for both their safeties it is not possible. She would have cheered him up considerably. She is almost literally the light of _my_ life. My stay was both depressing and boring, mainly because I hate LA with a passion. The only good thing besides being able to spend lots of time with my niece and sister was that I impulse-bought (and rightly so, I think- - -sympathy presents to myself) lots of cool music, from Tricky to Jane Jensen to Jimi Hendrix. Also I wish there was some way to express my gratitude to Sonic Youth, because their song "The Diamond Sea" sang me to sleep every single night this week, and really kept me from despair. So if any of you Angry-Psychos know Steve, Kim, Lee, or Thurston, tell 'em I love 'em. Anyway...I'm back. Thankz for all yr kind e-mails, most of which I got today. Oh...and Eamonn...sign me up for the club. It's kind of a concept soundtrack: they're teaming up metal bands with techno artists. Like for example Tricky meets Korn and shit like that, sort of like what they did for Judgment Night. I heard a lot of the pairings but I forgot nearly all of them. I don't know if I consider Poe dark enough to be on that soundtrack, personally, or on MK for that matter (did that movie really need a sequel?). - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Niles J. (Angry Johnny) At work I "listened" to classic rock (Floyd,Doors,Stones etc.) and a workmate had a Alternative Station on. (Nerve ,Rochester) and heard POE and thought "what a amazing voice" I now have stopped listening to the classics (I guess you can only take so much zepplin) and have been "hooked" to alternative. I have also heard "Hello" and "Fly away". Don't even own the album (yet). I am a Tool and Die Maker by trade and am 31. Been to a few POE sites and am impressed. I take it that she only has one album? Did she write "Angry Johnny" and if so , Who's Johnny? Hey APs, In honor of our new competition with the battle of the bands counters, I suggest that we started a new game to see who can collect the most Poe counters (trophies). Only counters that are divisible by 100 (e.g. 4100) count for this competition. Got to this new page I started: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Corridor/1979/battle.html to see what I mean. As you can see when you go there, I already have counters for 4200, 4300, 4400, 4500, 4600, 4800, and 4900.
