I know Buzzfest was forever ago, but I have just now gotten a chance to post my review of it ( and yes I might mention Sponge...... hehehehe ) I live right by Jim Myers in Akron, Ohio so I owe my life to that guy for making it possible for me to go. I went down to Virginia with him, my friend Ang (now a fellow AP), and Jim's friends Jason and Tim. The drive was 8 hours for us, but was a nice ride for me because I just slept and stared at my pic of Vin (lead singer of Sponge whom I am completley obsessed with) all night. When we got to Richmond we found where some of the AP's were staying and Ang and I were very impressed the the first AP's we met, Ed (who had on awesome black vinyl pants)and Kent because they were pretty hot and very cool and Becky who was cool too! We then took over Kathy's room to get ready for the concert (thanks!!). Once we got to the concert I met a lot more Ap's who were swarming the front gate handing out Poe flyers..........it was then and there that I saw Vin......my back was turned to him and and few AP's who knew I love him yelled at me that he was walking 20 feet away from me....so I ran up to him and talked to him for a few minutes about getting me backstage passes...shortly then after both Ang and I recieved 2 all access passes...I mean we could go anywhere....in anyones dressing room...on the side of the stage....oh it was awesome.....back to POE......so after Jarrod got us lined up to met Poe and Jim played policeman, we got to each have a couple minutes with Poe. I was so excited standing in line to talk to her again that I told Ang I was going to cry and I couldn't hold it in, but she kept me calm. Once it was my turn I showed her the letter I had published in LIVE magazine about her modeling in their magazine and she was touched....then I just broke down. I told her how much her music means to me and what a great person she is and how much I really admire and look up to her...and I started crying. She stood up and gave me a hug which made me cry even harder (you gotta understand I was in the midst of the best day of my life....I mean I was hanging out with Poe and Sponge....I was just slightly excited) so she hugged me again and then got tears in her eyes and even shed a few and told me how touched she was....I then told her that I just had to stop crying because I still had to see Vin again and I didn't want my make-up and glitter to run which made her laugh and she said that my makeup was still doing good.(Ang toke a pic of her hugging me and you can actually see a tear running down my face) I told her she has it made, not only does she get to hang out with Vin, but she is friends with Christopher Hall too (lead singer of Stabbing Westward, my other big obsession). I asked her if she had a message she would like for me to pass along to Christopher (I talk to him online ocassionally) she laughed and said she would have to think about it and get back to me (she never did...must have forgot). I asked her where she got her boots that I refer to as "POE" boots because I have looked for them forever, but can't find the exact ones. She said that they were custom made especially for her and that is why I can't find them anywhere. I gave her a silver belled braclet just like the one I have and she gave me another hug for that and signed my autograph, "thanks for your openess, glitter, and the music you put around my wrist" After the meeting with Poe I snuck up to the front for her show which was so incredible!! It was the first time I had seen her since August 30 (with Sponge then too!!!) With my pass I was able to go out to the van and get the tape recorder and Ed's camcorder, but was so excited that I forgot to tape the show until 10 minutes after the show started. And since I was so close the sound isn't that great. Anyway, Fly Away is my favorite song and when she sang it and dedicated it to her father again it made me cry agian. I heard Control for the first time and it was awesome!! She pointed at me a few times and was wearing the braclet I gave her!!! She mentioned us psychos...how could she not, there were so many of us there, we were everywhere!!! After Poe was done I hung out with Sponge in their dressing room for awhile...and it was so awesome because while Vinnie was changing in the bathroom he was singing and he came out wearing these awesome as hell black vynl pants. Of course I thought Sponge's show was awesome...somehow I managed to sneak up to front row center stage.....I taped their set until we had to leave. Sponge was 3/4 of the way done with their set and we had to leave to make it to Poe's DC show on time. And yes I cried......hey I was having a very emotional day...I hated beeing torn away from Sponge, especially when I had front row and Charlie (the drummer) invited Ang and I to the hotel after the show to hang out...I told him we wouldn't be able to make it, but since they put us on the guest list for the ROAR tour at Blossom in Ohio hopefully we will get to hang out more then. It's kinda funny because on the tape you can hear me sobbing as Jim and Ang kept telling me that we had to leave for DC now. Some of the other Ap's kept asking me if I was ok....I told them they were tears because I was so happy!!!! So on to DC..... After nearly getting killed in DC because we had no idea where were going we found our hotel and left for the show. We had the most perfect timing in the world because we got there 5 minutes before POE went on. Ang, Jim, and I managed to work our way into the crowd by some AP's. The show of course was awesome....Cameron did a killer solo and Poe sang A Rose Is A Rose.....which is the coolest song!! She sang happy birthday to Jarrod which brought more tears to my eyes because I could see the happiness in his eyes.....it was so sweet!!!! After that show a small group of AP's waited until 3:00 am to say hello again to POE. She didn't have much time to talk this time because she had to get up at 8:00, but it was cool!! AAAhhhhhhh....my that turned out pretty long....and I even cut a lot out........ Thanks Jarrod for organizing everything, I have copies for you of the "wasted film".....Just kidding...I actually got your pic blown up bigger than Vin's....hehehe Wow....so "that day" turned out to be the best of my life.......ANGRY PSYCHOS RULE!!!! Have fun in Rochester, I can't make it to that one, my credit cards are finally maxed!!! Funny how you will believe these other uninformed opinions that he used whatever software over mine. At minimum, you should doubt them equally. If my FACTS aren't good enough because they don't have obvious backings, then what makes you jump to believe the other person's? And my figures aren't arbitrary by ANY means. Lewis Koch quoted that amount in his piece for CyberWire Dispatch, as well as Steve Knopps for Internet Underground. To go one step further, AJ and I have talked in the past and he showed me his script as well as list of mail lists. > > Why is it people are so quick to judge others without knowing the full > > story? > Maybe because the "full story" isn't available to those of us without > your apparently privilaged information sources... Sure it is. You just haven't taken the time to try to track him down and ask for yourself. I also have a feeling you haven't read the Netly News piece written by him, the interview in Internet Underground, the segment in Time magazine, etc etc. > But on the side: can we stop arguing about the technical merits of AJs > attacks? If his purpose in hacking, or cracking, or whatever, were to > prove himself, he would have chosen a more sophistacted form of attack. > He didn't. AJs attacks should be judged on their politics, if anything. Which he states several times over. He used a simple non-technical attack for a reason. There is another aspect to this whole deal aside from the political message, and that is of network security. That is the primary reason I got in touch with him. I do network security for a living and wanted to talk to him about the whole deal. One of his comments made to one journalist or another about security and authentication caught my attention. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 May 1997 12:46:01 EST From: "Deborah B Pearl" Subject: intro hey i'm finally doing an intro..... well my name is DebB i'm 20 in college living with two roommates and i learned about all this from bill and tim..... Cyber sex is dumb, If I had a wife, I'd rather have sex with her, than what some fat girl is typing on the other end. - Jason 3. I guess it all depends on if it bothers the other person and you keep doing it anyway then there's a lack of respect in the relationship (the real-life one, that is) and that's a problem. But in general I think it's just meant in fun and not to hurt anyone. - CathyS 4. If you're fantasizing at the time about being with someone else then YES. - Jodi 5. Unless you do it to be comical or for some group laughs, if you sorta get off on it, it's cheating. At the least, it's the same as flirting heavily with someone in person with some serious intent. I'd call that cheating, at least on one level. It's not the same as actually banging someone, but it's still a breach of trust. - Colin 6. Cyber sex is only cheating in a two (maybe more) circumstances: 1)When your partner has already told you that he/she was uncomfortable with you doing it, and told you that he/she DOES consider it cheating or: 2)If it is an ongoing on-line realtionship. If this is someone that you've been doing this with for more than a few weeks, and this is someone that you may have developed feelings for, then it most certainly is. - - silver pepper girl 7. How can it be cheating? No one gets pregnant, and no one gets AIDS. However, if one becomes emotionally attached to a correspondent, then it may veer toward cheating. - Padma 8. cybersex is just a way to distort reality and comfort oneself with another who is just as perverted as yourself... it's kinda like the 976 age when you dialed in and had phone sex... only cheaper... and much easier to access... - Ej 9. I say no definitely if you don't know the person and have no desire to. In this case, hte computer is like a "masturbatory" tool. It is different however if you know the person or would actually persue meeting them. If this is the case, I would put it on the same level as flirting, but I wouldn't really worry if i really trusted her. If it is someone that she has actually *been* with, then it would really really p*ss me off. - Myth 10. I believe if done in jest, CyberSex is fine. However, if someone does it in order to feel loved and wanted, then it's not OK. I was in the chatroom and I was somewhat sickened (and shocked) by the behavior of some people in there. - Lawrence 11. no i don't think its cheating because its not cheating if you watch a porn or go to a strip club and have phone sex...you don't even know who the person is where they are or anything about them.....but either way i think it's discusting - MAGAN 12. i feel it is NOT cheating, as long as it doesn't go too far... if they get too "involved" with it, i think yes, it is cheating to a degree... but not more than phone sex, or any other type of non-contact sex. - Dave 13. No, cybersex is not cheating. But whoever you're with can still feel as hurt and neglected as they want, of course. - Kity 14. If cybersex is cheating, then are romance novels cheating too. It is just words either way. Sure, in cybersex, there is a bit of personal intervention, but the people don't actually see each other, or touch each other. - Clint 15. personally, i think cyber sex is just a game and would NOT count as cheating....of course, if i was in a situation where i had to decide, as in my boyfriend was cybering behind my back, then i'd prob'ly have a different answer....ok. i think that's the key. hiding it would make it seem like cheating. if your lines are communication are open and it's no secret, then it's not cheating. if you're doing it behind your significant other's back....could be another story - Leah 16. I don't consider cybersex cheating, because it's not like whoever it was REALLY cheating... Who's to say it wasn't a joke? And even if it wasn't, I mean, hell, would it be the same if the other person was busted on a 900 number? Of course not! Why? because there was no contact, not even a bloody glance! - Sarah 17. I dot not consider CSex cheating I am 19 years old I have never participated in the actual act. In my opionion having cyber sex would be the equivelent to going to a bar and only talking about drinking......also buying a dirty magazine and masterbating is the same execpt that you would at least have to know how to spell....and what about telephone sex??.....In all cases the person having the (SEX) is ALONE!!....so you would'nt be cheating - Laura ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 May 1997 15:42:34 -0400 (EDT) From: "Allan Grimm (The Reaper)" Subject: NPR - survey 16 years + - results (Part 3) And here's my take on it. I think it is if you've met the person, if it bothers your significant other, or if it's monogamous with that one person that's not your significant other. The reasons that I think it is cheating are the fact that it is interactive, and the person has to choice if they are, and who they are doing it with. Another problem I have with it is the fact that it is a public chat room where there are young people present, and this has been going on at all hours of the day. If you don't believe me, I can put up some stuff I copied of past transcripts. It's funny, now that I have the results, I don't even need them. Now, I'm single, so it doesn't really matter. Well, I hope everyone enjoyed the survey. I thought the points were interesting to say the least. And I'm sorry if I misquoted anyone. I tried to take them straight from the e-mails.
