(Important to me but not to you.) Hey all you psychos! Wassup? I am going out of town for a wedding in Savannah tommorow and won't be back `til late Sunday night (which won't give me a chance to check my mail this weekend.) Since my mailbox is almost full after one day's worth of mail any-hoo, I am asking a favor for you to keep down the mail for two days. I don't wanna miss somethiing because my mailbox over flowed, come back, and miss some important thing that I really would need to know. So, if those of you who post regularly (like me) would just slow down the mail a little and only post one or two things, I would be forever in your debt. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Love ya, Jessie P.S. I love all you guys even incluing the ones with hurt feelings over the strong opinions over all of this non-sensable flaming. Now, where was I? *sighs* Oh yeah. By saying this is hacking at the utmost level is truely false... Anyone and there mother can email bomb it requires little to no-computer knowledge. The only real trick behind this is spoofing your domain. Infact most true "hackers" belittle those who would call themeselves the term and especially if they thought so becuase they could "mail bomb". He probally used a program called "Up Yours" which the maximum number to bomb is exactly 10,000 messages. This would then lead us to conclude that he has no idea on how to write a script in unix or linux to do this. If you really want to call him a hacker then have him obtain root on getnet.com by using Sendmail 8.8.5 or rdist, and take over the server....Now that would be most impressive. Anyone and > there mother can email bomb it requires little to no-computer knowledge. > The only real trick behind this is spoofing your domain. Infact most true Amateur hour it seems. Yes, mailbombing is not exactly hacking. Yes, you did not read the full letter. A hacked account was used so no spoofing was required. > "hackers" belittle those who would call themeselves the term and especially > if they thought so becuase they could "mail bomb". He probally used a Read below, but HE never said he was a hacker because of the mailbomb. > program called "Up Yours" which the maximum number to bomb is exactly > 10,000 messages. This would then lead us to conclude that he has no idea No he didn't. You and the other clueless people out there assume that for NO reason. The maker of UpYours! went so far as to claim he used that program during some interview or another. This is completely false. > on how to write a script in unix or linux to do this. If you really want He used a custom script that was under 5k for the script. The list of mailing lists was 10x larger than the script. > to call him a hacker then have him obtain root on getnet.com by using > Sendmail 8.8.5 or rdist, and take over the server....Now that would be most > impressive. As I said, amateur hour here. You think that by using either the buggiest and most hole ridden daemon out there, or an ancient utility that has been exploited for over *8* years, that would show hacking skill? Get real. Sendmail 8.8.5 is vulnerable, rdist is vulnerable. If you are going to challenge anyone to hacking a server, you should at least request they do it with something interesting. Next, no respectable hacker would attack some ISP based on a challenge from someone else, especially someone who doesn't seem to know anything about CURRENT hacking. And last, why would someone who obviously loves Poe, hack the server hosting a web page dedicated to her? Come on! Last. HE never claimed he was a hacker because of the mailbombs. The journalists labeled him that. At one point he did say he was one, but think about it. Just because he does something else besides hacking, doesn't disqualify him from being a hacker. Should we disqualify you as someone who likes Poe's music because you use the internet? Of course not. To do so would be completely ridiculous. > forwarded message: > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > --------------------------------- > > > > What happened was a mailbomb. 10,000 emails to whatever account that This was Jarrod misunderstanding the mail. AJ signed each person up to 10,000 MAIL LISTS. Not 10,000 pieces of email. > > Angry Johnny chose. This is hacking at the utmost level. My chatroom > > problems have nothing in comparison to what our "friend" Angry Johnny > > pulled off. And the last thing, which you and everyone else would probably be interested in is this. AJ is talking with one of the people that is hacking getnet.com and messing with the services there. He is trying to pursuade them to quit their fight against the server and move on to better things. Why is it people are so quick to judge others without knowing the full story? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 3 May 1997 00:06:34 -0400 (EDT) From: Dlphinlove@aol.com Subject: Re: NPC: For all of you Thank you Michelle for reminding us what real PsychoLove is all about.
