By clicking a person's name, it will either (1) go to that person's homepage or (2) show a short bio of the person and/or a small picture. Hello! fellow Angry-Psychos! My name is Edward, currently living in Richond, BC (just south of Vancouver) , 24, and I'm new, of course, to this whole POE following (just discovered this great website - congrats to Jarrod!), but I've been a fan of her music from the time her cd first came out. I was flipping channels when I caught a glimpse of her eyecatching cd cover on an 'arts and entertainment' show....on Newsworld sometime in '95.....the host was reviewing it and saying what a wonderful new talent POE was and whether or not she would last in the music industry. (I always keep an ear perked for new female talent.) They played a clip from her 'THJ' video and I was immediately hooked. She has such a beautiful voice and she sings with energy! And her sound wasn't anything I've heard before. I rushed out the next day and bought "Hello" and didn't stop playing it. Then, after waiting several agonizing months, I heard she would be opening up for 7M3 at the Commodore Ballroom!! June 9th, 1996 was the first time I saw her surprising and kick-ass live show. POE raaawwwwwwkssssssss!!! I think most of the crowd didn't know of her, so it took a bit of time for the kids to warm up to her, but not too long...by no means....that springy dance floor was soon boinging up and down like jello! Woo! Of course, she did try for a dive into the crowd, but it was brief. The barrier was about 4 feet from the stage, so she barely landed on the front row of people. You gotta admire her spunk. Now, I don't have a strong voice, but I wanted to let her know she was awesome, so I scribbled "POE, YOU ROCK!" with a smiley face on an unopened pack of EXTRA peach gum and threw it onstage. It hit her tall, black boots unnoticed. A couple of songs later, she looked down, paused, picked the gum up and asked who threw it. I was waving frantically with my hand and when she noticed she thanked me and flashed me her beautiful smile. :> -sigh-. I smiled back and gave her a peace sign, which she returned in kind. She is soo cool....she really likes to interact with her fans. (no, she didn't keep the gum btw) Same to her bass player, Jeffery is it? He was dressed in a bright orange jumpsuit, big stinkin' kick-butt boots, and with that funky hair he had , he was alotta fun to watch and listen to. There are not too many bands out there who are better or just as good live. I saw POE again for a second time at the Town Pump (Nov.6/'96). Unfortunately, only a small crowd turned out. But it did not matter to POE! She still went all out like she does and gave an awesome performance. She stage-dived a couple of times, walked through the crowd while singing with a mega-phone, just anything to spark a fire under the crowd. But we're talking about a Vancouver audience here, so it was difficult for POE to get the crowd moshing in an intimate venue. I gave her a gift at the end of her set which she said was awesome and I grabbed the set list after she left the stage. I didn't say much to her then cuz she was sweating and wanted to rest in her dressing room. Here's what she sang in order: That Day Cherry Hello Fly Away Dolphin Fingertips Jane Beautiful Girl Angry Johnny Trigger Happy Jack How Long I wish I asked for an autograph, but..........maybe next time I'll get the chance to meet her. If you want to know, I'm also a huge fan of Sarah McLachlan,Paula Cole,Heather Nova, and Suzanne Vega. Currently, I listen to NIN, Jewel, Delerium, Sheryl Crow, Tara Maclean, Fiona Apple, .... I've already read a ton of the mail on the website and you seem to be really cool people. I still find it difficult to believe how involved POE is with her fans. Most artists I see aren't that dedicated. She's the best! I had to go through this already on the Poe board on aol. No one try and call that number. It would be really disrespectful to Poe and the person who's number it is.
