Knowing this type of info will help us to focus our recruiting efforts more efficiently. For instance, I am particularly interested in finding out how many new APs learned about the mailing list at Poe concerts. so... please mail me privately at eskitek@poe.org with SURVEY in the subject and tell me if you found out about Angry-Psychos from: - - a flyer distributed at a concert (and tell me which show) - - Poe mentioning us (when/where) - - the MSNBC "the site" interview on TV - - surfing the net - - a friend - - other (what???) I will make the results available to those interested when tallied. thanx! emily ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Apr 1997 23:46:42 -0500 From: sp00k@rinx.com Subject: Rochester Lodging Part I READ COMPLETELY, If interested, do NOT respond to the list in regards to this o ffer, respond only to sp00k@rinx.com subject:LODGING or your response may get o verlooked or deleted. sp00k@rinx.com and starwall@cyber1.servtech.com (Ron and Tammy) are pleased to announce an invitation to AP's who will be visiting Rochester for the May 17th show. Why? The POE show will be part of a much larger event, the "Lilac Festival" an d the Nerve (WNVE 95.one/five) 2nd B-day Party (POE was here for #1). You will be entering a city that will be in major party mode, having just thrown open t he windows after a LONG (as usual) winter. We live 1 mile from Highland Bowl (a wonderful site/concert shell) which is in Highland Park, where all those Lilac Bushes will be on display (well worth the trip by itself, as hundreads of thousands of people do) We live in a neighborhood that is DEFINETLY alternative. This is the icing on your POE Cake. We live in view of "The Ave." Monroe Avenue that is. On the no rth end of Monroe Ave. is Downtown Rochester, on the south end is Cobbs Hill Pa rk, (A beauty of a hill opposite Higland Park, a mile apart) yes this is NY, bu t not as you know it. A 30 minute walk from Cobbs Hill Park to Downtown on Monroe Ave would reveal in approximate order. A mom and pop grocer, a pizza shop, a Nintendo/modle car and rocket dealer, a computer repair shop, a skateboard/inline skate shop, a c onvienence store (Wilson Farm's, parking lot outside my window), the 490 east a nd west X-pressway exit for Monroe Ave, a public lirbrary, YMCA, full service S HELL Gas(24hr), Village Green Books (just bout any book or mag) great java soci al point, The Genesee Co-Op health food/public darkroom, The Hub Internet Cafe http://www.hotliquid.com (open till 4:00am weekends) need I say more on that su bject?, Brugers Bagles and Java (excellent), Parts America (a division of Weste rn Auto, low prices and they get me my YUGO parts :> ), a video retailer(I don' t watch TV), Rite-Aid Pharmacy (has floppies, tapes, cameras, radios and tv's), Park Ave Trading Post (used computers, stereos, pawn shop, you MUST barter for a good price), Arons Alley: Greatful Dead attire, tattoos, piercings, leather attire, incence, candles, T-shirts, (social point for Hacky Sack Players, Skate boarders) Gitsis Resturaunt(24hr) burgers/breakfast, Skyhigh (a head shop, ) A Poster shop, a liquor store, Sals Birdland (chicken dinners/wings) The Sports Page Bar/Rest .25 cent "Nuclear Wings" on Wed., Momm a Tassones (Italian), Mark's(24hr**) Rest. (way cooler than Gitsis) lots of bef ore and after clubbing people, an adult XXX store (actualy 2), The Genesee Hosp ital, (Highland Hospital next to concert site) a firehouse, Dunkin Donuts(24hr) a 7-11(24hr) a laundry mat, a Salvation Army Thrift Store (great for jeans), T he Bug Jar, (a way kewl club, small but it is the definition of unique), Servic e Tech, (home of cyber1.servtech.com ) and fina ly just before downtown, Strong Museum (a large collection of antique dolls and changing exhibits) and Manhattan Square Park (lots of concrete, stairs and ram ps used by skateboarders and inliners) there are a bunch of resturaunts, shops, and clubs that I did not mention. - -----========------ Rinx.com BBS (716) 758-1034 http://www.rinx.com IP: 206.231.1.10 - -----======------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Apr 1997 22:53:31 -0500 (EST) From: Padre Fear Subject: Re: Poe? Okay, who was talking about Meredith Brooks awhile back? I just heard her song on the radio this afternoon during break between my classes today. I went out and bought that tape single (there was only one place here in Bloomington that I could get it, and all they had were tape singles). That song is really cool. It kind of reminds me of Alanis Morissette. (Sorry if that comparisson pissed anyone off... but, hey, it is just my honest opinion). Anyway, to whoever posted about Meredith Brooks first... you rock.
