Umm, I think he meant that the majority of "email viruses" are actually THE messages that warn people about "email viruses". In other words, the whole thing is a hoax that perpetuates itself by gullible (but well-intentioned) people who forward those "warning" messages around! It's basically an urban myth. Not that caution isn't called for if you get an email with a binary ATTACHMENT. This message is for Psychos going to Richmond/DC: Oh-my-God, I can't believe it's almost time for us all to meet and party and see POE!! I just wanted to ask again if there is anyone staying in DC Saturday night after the show at the 9:30 Club and if anyone knows of cheap hotels near there. Since I live in NY, I just don't see the sense in driving all the way back to Richmond Saturday night. Juli, is the offer of floor space still open? I may take you up on it if I can't find a hotel. Anyway, Mike and I will be arriving in Richmond sometime Friday afternoon. We plan to settle in and maybe go out to dinner, then meet up with you "EconoLodge Psychos" Friday night sometime after 8:00 (that is when the Buffalo group is arriving, correct?) Then it's party, party, Poe, party, drive, party, Poe, party, sleep?, drive, drive, drive. =) I am getting very "psych-oed" up for this trip!!! P.S. Kristina, Jarrod, Clint (and any other Vegas Psychos I'm forgetting): I will be bringing the pictures I took while we were in Vegas. Can you guys do the same? The show ROCKED! POE sounded utterly fantastic--her voice was in great form. I was really glad to hear songs like How Long and Control (I was hoping for A Rose is A Rose, but I don't think the crowd would have dug it). At one point, POE forgot about the new set list, and did her intro for "Angry Johnny" ("Are there any angry young men in the audience?") when Cameron was playing the intro for "Fly Away". She covered well by saying, "I'll get back to you guys later." (: The crowd went utterly wild when, during "Trigger Happy Jack" she subsituted the lyric "WHY THE FUCK NOT!" during the "why not? why not?" bit. There was even a point where she climbed up on the rafters that were holding up the light bays and catwalk above the stage, and hung there for a while, singin' away. She also annointed the audience with two of her water bottles... I could go on and on, there were so many great moments in the show. But then it was over (no encore!), and the APs congregated in the prearranged spot to wait for our audience with POE. (: After a bit of waiting around, Billy led us first backstage, and then up to her dressing room. We all kind of milled about uncomfortably for a bit. There were a few non-APs there too, and she greeted them first. I happened to be standing behind them, and when she was done chatting them up, I just went right up and introduced myself. (: The order of events after that was kind of blurry, but eventually, we got settled, and more comfy, and gathered at POE's feet as she signed autographs and chatted us up. There was also a TV crew for a local alternative music show there that was doing a segment on POE and who wanted to see us interacting with her. They also interviewed Tony and Emily about the APs...yay! We talked to POE about all sorts of things. She told us about her experiences working on a song for the Batman Lives (or whatever its called) soundtrack--its that new one she's doing called "Control." The album's producer and the label actually liked it, however, the label's *consultants* said it was "too dark," and POE was like, "Oh, let me get in touch with my Celene Dion side for you!" She was pretty cranky about that. But I told her that when it came down to it, she could kick Celene's ass in a dark alley any day, and she thought that was pretty funny. Then, Tony gave her a copy of his Vegas-docu- mentary, and had her sign a magazine whose interview with her she despised because they totally misquoted her all over the place. We also tried to start a chain story, but it didn't get very far around the circle. At some point in this whole thing, my contact fell out of my eye (thanks again, Tony, for telling me!). I spent like, 15 minutes trying to put it back in and talk to POE at the same time. Not an easy feat. (: Sadly, however, our time with POE was short, as she was being hurried out of the building. We took some quick pics with her, and left.We were tired, but happy! We stopped off at Taco Cabana for a late snack, and went straight back to the hotel for sleep! We wrapped up the evening with recap of the evening's events for the camera, and conked out! We had a rough time waking up this morning, but we all made it, and piled back into the car. After a quick drive through downtown San Antonio so that Tony could see a few of the sights, we got back on the road. We made it back to Austin, and we took Tony by one of the Dazed and Confused locations, and then it was all over and done with. Emily, Abby, and Tony dropped me off at my house, goodbyes were said, and I went grocery shopping, still pretty psyched from the night before! (: That's all I have to say. Give me all the details! Did Billy hook >you guys up to go backstage? Tell me all about it! > I was very excited when Sunday April 13th finally became the present! I had bought my tickets to see Poe at Numbers in Houston, Texas as soon as I found out about it from a local newspaper. I am a student at Rice University and have had a VERY stressful semester. Sunday is the prime homework time for virtually all Rice students, but I had to see Poe! (I didn't even think about skipping it once.) I went to the concert by myself since all of my friends were hard at work, but I looked forward to meeting the other angry psychos at the concert. At the last second I printed up a quick angry psycho sign to help me with finding the other psychos. I left for the concert and after parking waited in the line that formed outside of the club. The line began to move not long after 8:00, when the doors were supposed to open. It did not take long for me to get to the head of the line and give them my ticket. I got in and it was not too long before the two opening bands played their songs. I was not able to find any other angry psychos, but I figured I would find them after the show. I was very excited when Poe came out on stage, and when she started to play "Fingertips," a shiver ran down my spine and I smiled for the first time in a while. I was suprised at all the moshing soon began. Poe's songs were a bit heavier than the CD version (like most live performances), but I did not expect moshing to be so big. I love moshing and am usually very active and sometimes even rule the mosh pit all night (KORN!), but I did not participate this time because I wanted to devote my full attention to POE. I was near the very front but was able to ignore most of the moshing. I was wearing my steel-toed boots, so I didn't have to worry about getting my toes bloodily stomped again (SEPULTURA). One time, Poe was near my part of the crowd, so everybody tried to reach her, including me! I get out my sign and held it up so she can see. She pointed at me and smiled. I TOTALLY LOVED the concert and Poe's amazing voice. They played their last song and left the stage, but everybody started to call out "Poe, Poe, Poe..." at the top of their lungs and stomp on the floor, so after a minute they all came back out and decided to play one last song for us. I loved it. At the end they started throwing out guitar picks again. I jumped for one and felt it touch my hand but was not able to catch it. I looked down and soon saw two and was able to retrieve one! After the concert, people started to drift out while others danced to the C J Bolland and other groups that they played over the speakers afterward. I wandered around looking for other angry psychos and could not find them. I then wandered up to the stage and was just looking around the stage. I then looked up and there was someone in an angry psycho tee shirt RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! I introduced myself and met David. I then met Nevyn, but after a while of holding up my sign, we realized that we were the only ones there. Billy came by after a while and told us that he was ready. We walked out to a courtyard and waited to meet Poe. There was a relatively small group in the courtyard. Billy came back and informed us that Poe was not feeling well and we would have to go see her in her tour bus. He first took all of the people waiting to see her but the angry psychos. It was then our turn! We walked with him to the bus and climbed on. I was very, very happy and was having a LOT of fun! We parted the curtains and entered the main part of the bus and saw Poe sitting at one corner. We walked in and she hugged us all before we sat down to talk. We talked about the angry psychos, the San Antonio show, stage diving, etc... David had a camera (THANK YOU DAVID), and we took a lot of pictures of everyone. Billy came and informed Poe that a girl that is always at all of her shows was there to. She asked him to get her and a a young girl came on the bus to see Poe. She had things that she had made for her. Nevyn, Jones, and Billy talked about computers for awhile, and Poe was discussing crowd surfing and moshing with the rest of us. Poe then signed the girl's single cover and all of our shirts. We talked some more and then Billy said that we had better call it to a close so Poe could save her voice. We were all very happy and thanked Poe for seeing us and everything. Poe mentioned giving current angry psychos VIP status and we filed out of the bus after one last hug. I bid farewell to David and Nevyn and was soon on my way back to my dorm to study for my test the next day. Sunday night was the funnest time I have had in a LONG time. It was GREAT! I really enjoyed the concert and REALLY enjoyed the meeting after the concert! I am very happy that Poe and Billy are able to manage a meeting with angry psychos after the show. What they are doing is great! I will remember that night forever!
