I must say, the SA show was absolutely fantabulous. There were the opening bands (Fluffy, Proteen, and Cowboy Mouth) and then there was Better Than Ezra. (Not to be confused with Not Quite As Good As Ezekiel) Although I'm not a BTE fan, I have to give them mucho credit. They were excellent in concert. Anyways, enough with the preliminaries. By the time Poe came on stage, all the high school junkies realized that they didn't have to sit down between bands and the pit stayed there. Anyways, I was able to push myself to within the first 5 rows of people. Screaming, ranting, and generally trying to protect my body. It was horrendously cold out, but not if you were in the middle of all those bodies massed together. I'm standing (??) there minding my own business when some guy in front of me slams his elbow into my face. I am a glasses-wearer. The obvious happened. The right lens popped out and promptly disappeared under the crowd. I pushed my way out and resolved that the lens was now as effective as sand. End of show. I stood over with the rest of the APs, all (including me) telling horror stories of the pit. Finally, Emily emerges from the back. We were tagged by the local fish and game commission with wristbands so they could track our mating habits. I thought about putting giant capital letters here to explain myself, but I have come to the conclusion that the excitement simply CANNOT be conveyed in words. To actually see her, talk with her, get her autograph, and take pictures was worth the entire episode in the pit. I actually felt sorry for all those people reaching out frantically to touch Poe during the show. But what can I say besides, "Nee-ner nee-ner nee-ner. I got to go backstage. And you didn't." (Of course, that's only the childish part of me, approx. 99%) For those of you that were there, I haven't given Laura the shirt yet. I'm going to make a bit of a show of it in the middle of class. As if being with Poe wasn't blessing enough...... We had to cross in front of the stage to get back out of the gardens, so I diverged from the group to make a futile attempt to search for my obviously now-crushed lens. I found 5 or 6 other lenses that weren't mine. Then, miraculously, I found it. It had taken only minimal damage. I popped it back into the frames and voila! SIGHT!!! What can I say. I had the most excellent time of my life. I hope to see all of you guys (and gals, gotta be politically retarded) before Dec 31, 99.
