Well, now that I am back at school, and the quarter is new, I have some spare moments to share with those of you who are interested, and those of you who are not. My name is Mike Goble, or Michael if you prefer, I am not very picky. I am a college student right now in Terre Haute Indiana, although I am from Kettering Ohio, which is a suberb of Dayton. I definately prefer Dayton to Terre Haute, but this school is supposed to be worth it acedemically. I am currently 20 years old, but as Becky knows, I will be turning 21 in May. I can't really recall the first time I heard Poe, but it was several months ago in my friends car, he bought the "Hello" album because he thought she was cool. He was correct, she is very cool. I literally listen to everything except rap and country, I particularly like classical music(Tchaikovsky is great), and pretty hard stuff to, i.e White Zombie, NIN; and of course everything in between. Poe seems to always fit my mood, which is just one of the many reasons she is one of the most awesome people in the world. Other info eh? Well, I love to travel, though I havent been anywhere spectacular in the last year or so. I do have it as a goal to visit all 50 of the US states sometime, and I already have Hawaii and Alaska out of the way. As I mentioned, I am a college student, currently a junior studying chemistry. I plan on going to grad school and hopefully getting a pH.D. in toxicology (http://www.toxicology.org/ for more information). I also play ultimate when I can, which is an up and coming sport most people havent heard of (http://www.upa.org for more info on that). I am always on irc, since we have a direct internet connection in our rooms and no modems to mess with, so look for me on EFnet as P-Bear if you ever want to talk, or just leave me a message in #wallawalla. It would be great to gather a list of APs in this region (Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, as well as western Kansas, western Nebraska and the Dakotas), so that we can *organize* when Poe finally makes her way out here. From the sound of things--from those who went to Vegas--we may even be able to meet our priestess face-to-face. I would guess that if she toured the RM West, she'd play in either Denver, Salt Lake City, or Phoenix. Please respond through private e-mail. Adios! Just thought I'd give you my brief (?) report on the Vegas trip. It was great! Getting to meet fellow Angry-Psychos in person and getting to hang out with Poe and the band was the coolest. The other concert-goers at the Hard Rock kept asking where they could get Angry-Psycho shirts (there were no Poe shirts for sale, boo hoo) and we told them they had to be in the Angry-Psychos. I wouldn't be surprised if we find our numbers increasing in the near future. The fact that we were seen hanging with Poe didn't hurt, either. And the flyers were great! Thanks to Roger, or whoever made them up. People around me at the show wanted them and wanted to know how to become members. We are quite the fierce force, aren't we!!!! Here is my version of the Vegas Awards. Sorry if I forgot some of you, but I didn't have enough time to hang out with everyone, so here's the abbreviated list (in random order): Amber - The Youngest Psycho Award Tyler Rowley - The Coolest Outfit Award Tyler's friend (forgot his name) - The Coolest Hat Award Shaun - The "Absolut"-ly Drunkest Psycho Award Tony Cosumano - The Videographer Extrodinaire Award Sahbreenah - The "If You Hit Me Again While I'm Trying to Enjoy a Poe Concert, I'll Fucking Kill You" Award Clint Doyle - The International Psycho Award Roger Knox/Alicia - The Coolest Name Tags, Buttons, Flyers, Etc. Award Carol Knox - The "No, It's Not Vodka, It's Soda Water" Award Cocky - Combination of the Coolest Psycho T-Shirt Award and Most Impressive Vocabulary Award Tyman - The Best Artist Award (Poe thinks your work rules!!! And so do I!) Angry Terry - The "I Can So Play 30 Hours of Poker in One Weekend Even If I Get No Sleep" Award Lawrence Kim - The "Let's Do Lunch Again Sometime" Award Kristina (and Melissa) - The Fellow New York Psychos Award (also the New York, New York Roller Coaster Award) Platrat - The "Better-Late-Than-Never" Award Jarrod/Melly - The "If We Had a Child, It Would Look Like Howard Stern" Award Emily - The "I Can Sleep on the Floor Outside the Bathroom Door and Still Be Fine the Next Day" Award If any regional Angry-Psychos have the chance to meet each other in person, take it from me and go for it! It's really worth it... it's weird how much we seem to have in common online, but even more so in real life. All I can say is... what a trip! P.S. THJ is playing on the radio right now... how's that for karma??!! After all, a whole tour of folk music would just bore me to tears -- but SOME folk music is okay. I'm going to disqualify Jewel and Sheryl Crow, since they're basically country singers. *grin* Also, I'm not sure how we're defining an 'all-female' tour, since groups like Elastica, Poe, Garbage, Four Non Blondes, and Veruca Salt all have men in them. :) Assuming that we mean bands with women lead singers, here goes (including show order): Veruca Salt Poe Tracy Chapman Elastica Tori Amos Garbage Staged this way, it gives fans of each group time after the performance to hang out and hope that the lesser-known acts will be in the lobby after their set -- AND alternates slow-paced stuff with fast, short stuff. :) Other people might add Melissa Etheridge and Jewel to this set, but I think that'd just slow it down a little; I was trying for stuff with a certain amount of edge and musical aptitude. :) Tom ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Mar 1997 21:42:01 -0600 (CST) From: "Lawrence J. Kim" Subject: Vegas Report No. 5 Okay, I will contribute my version of what happened in Vegas: THURSDAY: My girlfriend and I arrive around 11am and go sightseeing for about 10 straight hours. Got a message from Emily about meeting at the Luxor at midnight, but I passed out from exhaustion. FRIDAY: Arrived at the Hard Rock around 345pm and met up with Roger, Alicia, Carol, Tony, Tyler, and Dabney at the Cafe. We made our way back to the casino, walked passed Daris, and met the rest of the APs. Toby and Cameron were hanging out with the crowd. POE stopped by but had to leave to do something, so we all went into the restaurant (Mr. Lucky's 24/7) and sat down. POE showed up again about 20 minutes later. She hung out with us for about 45 minutes before she had to go to do a soundcheck. Waiting in line at 6:30, and by 7:00, the line grew to a few hundred people. When the doors opened, I ran to the stage. Roger, Alicia, Carol, Sara, Tyler, Dabney, Tony, and I were front and center. Cocky, Brian, and Melly also appeared. The place was packed by the time Red 5 came out. The moshers were very annoying and I got shoved out of my spot. POE came out around 9:00 amid a roaring crowd. When she started to sing, all hell broke loose. I was being beaten to a pulp by the moshers, so Sara and I moved to the back of the club after the third song. During the concert, POE mentioned the Angry-Psychos and presented us with our own gold record. After the concert, we hung around the stage until security started forcing us out. Then Jason and Jarrod came to the rescue. We were ushered into a private elevator and we sat in the VIP balcony (?). POE arrived after 10 minutes and had to talk to some other people. But she did spend a lot of time with us and we all had a great time. The pyramid we did was great, but a little painful. She also made sure that everyone got an autograph or two. - ------ I had an awesome time with the fellow APs and I hope we will be able to do this again! You guys rock! >>> We came from the all over the U.S. (and Canada) to the City of Sin to be with one person. Some people called us crazy, but we're actually PsYcHo! <<< P.S. - What happened at the tour bus? Cheers, Lawrence ************************************************************************ Lawrence J.
