I also spent a few ill-fated months = in San Angelo, Texas--a place I'd much rather forget. 3) I am 20 years old, but my friends have decided that I'm really about = 30, which is contrary to my usual feeling that I really am 12, and have been for = several years. 4) Upon hearing Poe's "Trigger Happy Jack" here on the radio in Austin = in November of 1995, I instantly became addicted to her music. 5) etceterata:=20 I'm a film studies major, which means I love to go on and on about=20 the ideological and technical aspects of films, which also means I'm not = the person to ask, "Hey, did you like movie?" because you'll probably = get a 20 minute long analysis. A slice of my favourite film list: Heavenly = Creatures, Citizen Kane, Vagabond (Sans Toit Ni Loi), Mean Streets, Rashomon, The=20 Philadelphia Story. And if Fargo doesn't win best picture, I'll be really pissed. I'm addicted to music, horribly. I think it should be one of the ballads like "Beautiful Girl" or "Fly Away"." I disagree! "Dolphin" is one of those rare songs that strikes several proverbials ("nerves") at once (besides, it's my favorite Poe song!). "Dolphin" is ephemeral, while dark, and should appeal to the gothic audience; it is slow enough to appeal to "romantics"; and it's emotionally complex enough to appeal to the thoughtful. Besides, it's probably the most "original" song on "Hello", musically (I don't mean to insult the rest of the CD, for those who might have so read my statement)--meaning that it's the one song least likely to be pigeonholed into a particular genre. Just my opinion. Padma ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 06 Mar 1997 09:46:02 -0800 From: Michelle Clayman Subject: Cleveland Poe Fans Hello I'm pretty new to this list. I think I subscribed 2 or 3 months ago, I just don't write in posts very much, but... My name is Michelle. I am 24 years old (my b-day is July 1, 1972) I'm from a small town outside of Cleveland Ohio (Ashtabula). I couldn't help but realize that there seems to be a lot of people on this list from the Cleveland area. Just out of curiosity, I was wondering how many of you angry-psychos are from the Cleveland area? Next time Poe comes to Cleveland we should have one big huge party before and after her show (Rebecca Clark suggested this!) Will poe videos ever be on Beavis and butthead?! would she like it!? so far i asked a few bands who were on beavis and Butthead... Sick of it all loved it.. they throught it was soo funny because they had all the hardcore dances in the video so beavis and butthead made up there own dances. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 06 Mar 1997 10:49:13 -0700 From: Jacob Daniel Schimming Subject: NPR: Junping on the bandwagon (1) Who you are? Final question, does anyone have any ideas on where I could get the flute part for Fly Away, I play the flute and would LOVE to learn how to play it, it's such a beautiful song. But if not >then go for it Dolphin is my favorite POE song and i would love to here it on >the radio. not entirely wrong, but not entirely true either. radio stations can play whatever the hell they choose to. however, they (at least the commercial ones) rarely opt for playing a song that is not being pushed by a record company. and the record company usually only does that if their artist has released a single. then again, that is not always the case :P you can just never tell... stranger things have happened. and let me just add my $.02 about that single thingy. imho (even though i know that in the grand scheme of things my opinion is usually quite inconsequential), the next single should be fingertips. this song is like no other. it's interesting (musically and lyrically), quite unique and distinct, and, damnit, it has that amazing jazzy leitmotif. alright, enough gabbing. someone from the frozen, snowy hell of montreal, bids you a fair night... rastko Rastko Kovacevic Home: 514.288.3065 Douglas Hospital Research Centre Work: 514.762.3048 6875 Boul. Well, I just wanted to thank everyone for contributing to POE's birthday card. I received many responses. In case you're wondering how it looks, let me tell ya about it: I printed each message separately on this funky blue paper, then I had it binded. It kind of looks like a spiral notebook. The cover is clear and on the first page it says "Happy Birthday POE from the Angry-Psychos". Also, on the first page I put a picture of POE. It is from an old Rolling Stone magazine. She is standing outside her tour bus holding her labtob computer. Hey, I thought it was appropiate! And the part where it says : "From the Angry-Psychos" is printed in this particular font that looks like the style of writing that POE uses when she writes "PSYCHO" on her shirts. So, there you go. I hope I didn't bore anyone, I just thought some of you may have been curious as to how it turned out. I guess that's all. I have to start packing for Vegas!!! Take Care Everyone.
