As you may have noticed, my name is not on any lists to go to Las Vegas on Friday. Of course, this is very disappointing for me, as I would like more than anything to be there. As you also may have noticed, though I have given a few of you some vague answers as to why I can't go when you inquired (no money, time, or vehicle or whatever), that's not the real answer. Usually, I try to keep my actual life very separate from this list and my Poe page, however, I guess I should tell you why I'm not going so that you all believe how much I really do want to be there. Two weeks ago, my 83-year-old grandmother had her second hip-replacement surgery. This has left a usually very independent and amazingly fit woman in pain and unable to fulfill all of her daily tasks. Therefore, I have been burdened with the admittedly (extremely) boring responsibility of helping her, which basically involves my presence at her apartment much of the time. She only lives 6 blocks from my apartment, so the chore was mostly delegated to me. I knew when I first heard the date of the concert that I wouldn't be able to go, as this surgery was planned far in advance. So I'm asking you all to have a great time (weep) and get lots of mementos and photographs and gambling wins... If any of you want to do me a favor regarding this trip and relaying a message...please write me. After her band finished their gig, Cameron and the blond guy with the funky hair came out into the audience and I got to meet them and chat with them. I also got their autographs. Cameron was a real sweetheart. It was pretty cool! So you said you live near the Plaza huh? I go to school at UMKC, which is near there. Do you go to school? If that happens it will probably be the last try that Atlantic give the record and then we would all have to wait 3 to 8 months before does any touring or anything while she is recording and mixing the new record. Don't get me wrong, "Dolphin" is a great song! But I do say that because I'm a fan. Probably a normal person would not get into that type of song, but you never know.
