"What is this," you ask? UMML, or Underground Music Mailing Lists, is a frequently-updated Mailing List, Database, and Information Repository dedicated to providing a comprehensive listing of all music-related mailing lists of an underground nature. Supported topics include: nightclubs, radio, DJ'ing, music production, raves/concerts and regional info, and genres including; gothic, industrial, techno, trance, ambient, ethereal, synthpop/new wave, new age, dance, college radio, BritPop, "electronica", and all offshoots. How amazingly revolutionary and awe-inspiring is this? Well, suffice it to say, the first issue was released on Monday the 10th (five days ago), and there have been well over SIX HUNDRED e-mail requests of the file to date. Shocking, isn't it? (Oh, I just bet you're shivering with delight as we speak, err, type. Go ahead, admit it.) Anyway, I'll stop babbling. If you're interested in grabbing up a copy of this world-changing document, rush off to your e-mail program and type up a letter THIS INSTANT, if not sooner. Just send me a letter at this very address (mailto:mwaas@shadow.net) with the SUBJECT LINE of "umml-request" (without quotes!) In other words, on the line of your e-mail editor that says "Subject:", you would type: ummlrequest Simple, huh? Even a two year-old with no computer experience could do it, so I'm sure you'll do fine. As far as the BODY of the message, there's no need to type a thing in there, unless you have some comments for me, telling me how astoundingly amazing I am for coming up with such a very cool and unusual project. Or whatever. If you're too lazy to bother with the e-mail request, just hop on the web and visit the UMML homepage at http://www.shadow.net/~mwaas/umml.html Hope to hear from you soon, and I hope you enjoy UMML! (Oh, and it's free. Won't cost you a penny. Guarantee it.) :) lateron Mitchel Waas Midnight Sorrow Fort Lauderdale, FL UNDERGROUND MUSIC MAILING LISTS! http://www.shadow.net/~mwaas/umml.html South Florida WebGuide - http://www.shadow.net/~mwaas/mw-sofla.html Mitch's HomePage - http://www.shadow.net/~mwaas ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Feb 1997 11:25:16 -0500 (EST) From: Poeski02@aol.com Subject: Hello just thought i'd let everyone know that i got the Hello single the other day--finally!!! it kicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Because the way it is now, by looking at the subject line, you can't tell if somebody is talking about the song, the new single they just picked up, or if they are SAYING "hello" to everybody. Get it? I thought it was a good suggestion... Yamit (silver pepper grrl) ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Feb 1997 11:41:12 -0800 From: "Evan E. Backstage Online has just received confirmation via Trauma Records that VERUCA SALT will be touring with BUSH for BUSH's East Coast dates beginning in March and ending in Mid-April. When asked who else is being considered for the other dates of the tour, Trauma simply said, "The band is considering many different bands." ============================================================================ Evan E. Track 15 is "Angry Johnny". I personally don't usually bother with MuchMusic, since it seems they have a liking for rap and a lot of the so called dance music, but I think I am going to watch a little more (when I get my cable hooked back up) to see if they are playing POE. Other on the album: Bush X, Garbage, Marilyn Manson, No Doubt, Red Hot Chili Peppers (total of 18 bands). Just thought it was cool to see POE on a compilation!! ********************************************************************** hcdoyle@direct.ca | "And the license said you had to stick around Clint Doyle, CNA | until I was dead, But if you're tired of | looking at my face I guess I already am" - -----------------------| "Divorce Song" - Liz Phair ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Feb 1997 15:18:20 -0600 (CST) From: "Lawrence J. I would like the following: * Magazines - name of magazine, title of article, date and page number(s) * On-Line Magazines - title and URL * Newspapers - name of newspaper, title of article, date, and page number(s) * CD-ROM magazines - title of magazine and date * Other mediums - as much info as possible! I now have four sections of the FAQ, none of them completely finished. Feel free to check it out at my homepage and give me comments and suggestions on how it can improve.
