For those of you that don't know who I am I'm the listowner of the Angry Psychos mailing list, which basically means that I'm the person who started the Angry Psychos and now I'm the administer of the list. I want to apologize for the length of the following post, but I believe there is a lot to say. I know this message is not going to apply to most of the angry psychos, but there are a few member of the angry psychos that are just plain immature and now its pissing me off. I been pretty much quiet till this point and have let the list members do whatever they wanted. I think its time I said something. First Sam left and now Lawrence Kim has unsubscribed. We are losing all of the people that make the Angry Psychos the Angry Psychos. A few people on the list just don't appreciate all of the work that we have done. Those people include Jarrod, myself, most recently Lawrence and also a number of other also have assisted me with the list. This list would not be in existence without the work of these individuals. The reason I created and now running the list is that I wanted to create a list so that Poe fans could find each other and talk about Poe. I never thought that I would have to ask people to limit what they send to the list, but that I envisioned a Poe list and that isn't happening when many Poe fans can't enjoy or even use the list because of all the off-topic posting. Let me remind you that I started the list, I have to administer it and it isn't really fair for some member to create a situation where running the list is miserable experience for me. I'm not saying just talk about Poe, but just keep non-Poe post to a minimum. Take conversion that don't apply directly to Poe's music privately. I NEVER said the list was going to be censored. I would never stop anyone from expressing there opinions. All I said was that I was going to write some guidelines that would hopefully make the list a more pleasant for everyone to enjoy. Hear is a DRAFT of the guidelines that I have written. Please keep in mind that some may change. The final version will be post on the Angry Psychos webpage for everyone to see. 1)Post POE and music-related posts. 2)Any non-Poe posts should be prefixed with NPR(No Poe Relation) in the Subject-line. 3)Absolutely no "me too" posts. if you feel you must express agreement with someone, email them privately and tell them. Common sense should dictate whether the reply should be posted to the mailing list or back to the postee, usually not to both to both. Also, please cut the text of reply letters to include only text relevant to what you're writing about, i.e. don't quote 200 line message to just put "Me too" or a similar sentiment after the quotation, or don't just write a few lines at the top of the message above the quotation. I know this may have to do with your mail program, so please learn to use it appropriately. 4)No flaming, excessive use of profanity, bigotry, or other violations of other people's basic human rights. You have an opinion. So does everyone else. Sometimes these opinions do not jive. That happens. But that does not give you an excuse to flame someone and personally insult them. 5)Corollary of #4: Publicly flaming or insulting someone by calling them a fag, freak, fucker, dumbass, etc. will result in you being asked to leave the list unless you agree not to engage in insulting other list members. 6)Never, ever send chain e-mails. 7) Relevance: Lots of people look on this list as a group of friends, and that's great. Its nice to have a group of people to turn to when you just want to vent about how horrid your life is. However, because of the large number of subscribers and the high volume of this list, conversation should be *POE* related only. This doesn't mean that if there's a major problem you can't tell us about it, but think twice about stuff before you send it. Will 200+ people really want to know the minute details of your life? The best advice I can give to help control this type of posting is to meet people via the Poe list and then share your problems with them through personal email. If people find these regulations too restrictive, it may be time to start a regulated, information-only Poe list (i.e., that would disseminate tour, tape tree, T-shirt, AP gatherings, and other kinds of information) for those who just don't have the time to slog through the list traffic to get to the Poe news. Let me know if your interested that idea. Once again, please be courtesy to list and follow the guidelines. Any consistent offender will be warned and if the problem still persists that person we be unsubscribed from the list. - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - ------------ That's what I have written. I don't think the guideline are too extreme on any side. If they are please let me know and they will be modified. Once again, please remember why we are here..for POE, not to argue with each. I want to end this post by saying that I love all the Angry Psychos and don't want too see any others walk away from us. Please let help each other by making the Angry Psychos one big happy family. I have seen her in concert 3 times (front row all 3 times)...The most unique of the 3 shows was when she played on Sept 7 on a boat in front of the Cambridge Side Galleria located in Cambridge, Mass. It was also the best show too, because she did an awesome cover of Jane Says by Jane's addiction, and I was able to get her (and her mom's) autograph on my orginal concert T-shirt.
