White Castle is generally in large Northern towns : Chicago, Indianapolis, St. Louis, New York/NJ, Minneapolis/St. Paul,Columbus Ohio, Cincy. 1st one opened in KAnsas City, Kansas in 1921. Most of the newer castles can go for 2 weeks w/o restocking ! They have 3 automated bakeries where all the buns are baked then frozen w/ liquid Nitrogen and shipped out. Meat comes from Armour in Phoenix, 300 patties (5 holes in each) weigh in at between 16 and 17 lbs. Dried onions are reconstituted with water and put under the "sliders" on the griddle. The "sandwiches" are cooked by steam ( and some frying from meat fat). Sorry, but this is just the tip of the W.C. iceberg ! Padma ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Jan 1997 18:17:13 -0500 From: "CathyS" Subject: First Concert (some Poe content) My first concert was when I was 16. It featured The Hooters (they were a one-hit wonder in the mid-80's), Joe Walsh, Aerosmith and Foreigner. I had just gotten my drivers license so me and 6 of my friends piled into my '72 Cadillac and hit the city (Rochester, NY) for the first time on our own. What a great time it was! Foreigner was the headline act. We had to leave during their set because I couldn't drive after 9:00 PM but we didn't care because they pretty much sucked, but Aerosmith was great. It was during their "non-popular" period between their mega hits of the late 70's and their resurgence in the late 80's. Steven Tyler was (as always) incredible. The last concert I went to was last month and featured our beloved POE. Also on the bill were Nada Surf, the band who does "Sucked Out" (can't think of their name right now), Tracy Bonham, Fun Lovin' Criminals, and Goldfinger. POE blew them all away (like you had any doubt!). The next concert I'm going to is Smashing Pumpkins w/Fountains of Wayne on the 26th. The concert's been sold out forever but my friend just told me he got tickets and asked if I wanted to go... like I'd say no!!! I hope that the concert I see after SP is POE... I guess we'll find out tonight at the chat when she plans to go out on the road again... let's hope it's SOON!!! Those of you who haven't seen her live must do everything in your power to do so... she is by far the best live performer I've ever seen. See y'all at poe.org at 10:00 EST.... I sent the girl my tape, but I forgot money for postage, and lost her address, so I am still wating for her to email me her address! I will let you all know when I get it, and we can work out making copies and such! My first concert was, I admit, New Kids on the Block! I was in 5th grade, and I thought it was the best thing at the time. Since then, I have seen Poe 2x and TONS of other bands, my musical tastes have definately changed, but sadly I STILL know all the words to the NKOTB songs! I hate Marilyn Manson, I have nightmares about him! One was that he was living in my house and was watching me get dressed, SCARY! ****Someone said they were making me a copy of the POE tape tree, well I cant remember who is was, but If they remember could you please email me if you still are, cause if not I am gonna get a copy from someone else, I just didnt want that person to go through the trouble and then I get the tape elsewhere!***** ~Jill ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Jill "Go inside and get my pickle" ~The Urge GlamorGirl@juno.com "i'm screaming dasies, from 14 miles away" ~Bush BUSHgirl44@aol.com "I dreamt tommarow had a prettier face" ~Poe DariaBlue5@aol.com "Don't tell me cause it hurts" ~No Doubt ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Jan 1997 20:17:25 -0500 (EST) From: JESSMAYS@aol.com Subject: Poe- WHo's all gonna come WHO's all coming to the chat this evening... what is the questioning structure gonna be, if any? - -jessica ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Jan 1997 20:23:01 -0500 From: RADIO FREE Subject: BAND VERSIONS AND STUFF?
