No mosh pit or stage diving or crowd surfing. We just swayed the crowd back and forth and squeezed so tight that you could pick up both feet and not fall down. I tried it that first concert. Anyway, the concert also happened to be the one that MTV broadcast in conjunction with some contest associated with the tour--something like, Win A Zoo TV Broadcast in Your Backyard! My mom taped some of what was shown on MTV that night when they would check in with the party. I remember being really pissed at that old VeeJay Duff because she was cussing us out since we wouldn't do the wave. Ashley" Ashley's right, of course--chill! Fact is, Poe has only one CD thus far, and it's a bit hard to keep our chat exclusively on her. I could do, however, without the juvenile potty-talk...not that I find scatalogical terms terribly offensive but I do find them, well...juvenile (yawn). "Shit" and "fuck you" hardly instill in me any sense of confidence in the intelligence of those whose vocabulary is so banal. I guess I've been spoiled, and not spoiled. I've only been to two concerts, but I can tell you right now, they were incredible. 1st concert: Pearl Jam and Bad Religeon. Bad Religeon was dissapointing, but Pearl Jam played FOREVER. They played like 6 songs of each of their first three albums, and a couple of B sides. The mix of Jeremy they played (kinda funked out, slower) rocked. 2nd concert: Both days of the Tibetian Freedom concert. Smashing Pumpkins, Beck, Foo Fighters, Sonic Youth, RATM, RHCP, Tribe Called Quest, Fugees (stole the show), De La Soul, Richie Havens, Beastie Boys, Pavement, and a whole bunch of other people. It was incredible. Never seen so many people in my life. Almost got killed when the Beasties played. Rage was incredible. They are without a doubt the tightest band on the road today. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 04 Jan 1997 10:57:13 -0800 From: mb882 Subject: TAN-1st concert For me it was REO Speedwagon at a highschool gym, before they had a record out in '72 or '73?My memory is so clouded....REO what?
