Of interest to this group would be poe1.jpg, poe2.jpg, poe3.jpg, group1.jpg, and group2.jpg Meantime, can we please let the t-shirt stuff alone for a bit? Leave it to private e-mail, we've hashed it out enough on the list, the same ideas keep coming up anyway. I'm still buzzing. She was a really fantastic performer. She sincerely loved the crowd and truly enjoyed what she was doing. It was an all-ages show at a small place, and the vibe was positive and strong. Her voice was incredibly versatile, crooning Beautiful Girl one minute, and then knocking the house down with Trigger Happy Jack the next. The band was slick-LA, and backed her up well. The cellist, Cameron, did a mind-blowing distorted solo, featuring parts of Back in Black (yes, AC/DC!) and some Hendrix. I had no idea a cello could rock so hard! The show started off slow, but after Choke a Cherry she was warmed up and rearing to go. She stage dived and surfed the crowd a couple of times, from what appeared to me to be pure love and affection for the crowd. She said, "From up here, you're the show!". Apparently the spotlights were set up in a way that she could see everyone, and she seemed mighty jazzed about that. Other escapades were spraying water on everyone periodically, and bringing up some women to dance with her on Beautiful Girl. She played most of the songs from the album. The band jammed hard on every tune, more concerned with rocking out than sounding just like the studio versions. There was a couple of new tunes (sorry, the names escape me, but they were very good), and a cover of a Jane's Addiction tune, Jane. When she came out for the encore, she was all excited. "We've been opening up for other bands mostly," she said. "So this is only our second encore ever!" She did Fingertips with Cameron solo and then said goodnight. But the band was putting on their instruments! She came running back saying "The band wants to play one more!" and then they played a very good new song. It is hard to convey what a great, positive, likable presence Poe had. Her sincerity and love for the music was obvious. She made absolutely sure that everyone there had a great time. I sure did. It amazes me that Poe is not a bigger star yet. Her songs are well-written and catchy, and her voice is superb. Unless the world has gone mad, you can expect her fame to rise as more and more people find out about her. I'm glad to have seen her in an intimate setting; for all I know next time she comes around, she'll be way more famous and playing in a large concert hall. .... tony ..... ================================== Experience is the name we give our mistakes. ================================== ------------------------------ From: Sunshyn143@aol.com Date: Mon, 11 Nov 1996 17:33:01 -0500 Subject: about the shirt thing, landon never mind my email i sent ya. i aggree w/ the idea about the angry-psychos t-shirt. soundz pretty kool. -sunshyn (sam) ------------------------------ From: agentorange2@juno.com (Rusty M Shelby) Date: Mon, 11 Nov 1996 17:42:20 EST Subject: new POE web page (coming soon) who ever wanted me to send them pictures for their new poe page, please contact me, as i went to mail your package the other day and saw that i didn't have your address. - -rusty ------------------------------ From: agentorange2@juno.com (Rusty M Shelby) Date: Mon, 11 Nov 1996 20:57:20 EST Subject: ***POE TAPE TREE SIGN UP!!!*** ok, it's here! you can now sign up to be a leaf for the tape tree! TONY, IF YOU GO TO CLEVELAND, SHE IS THE STAR! THE PEOPLE IN CLEVELAND LOVE HER. THEY HAVE HAD SUCH A HUGE RESPONSE IN CLEVELAND, THEY HAVE HAD TO TIGHTEN UP SECURITY SO MUCH THAT EVEN PEOPLE LIKE JARROD AND I (who are friends with Poe) AREN'T ALLOWED BACKSTAGE TO SEE HER, DESPITE HER PROTESTS (and she does protest!!! A lot! My friends watched her bitch out a security guard for chasing me away after a concert...they threatened to arrest me if i didn't leave, i told them that poe asked me to stay, but did they believe me, noooooooo!) ANYWAY, SHE IS A STAR IN A LOT OF PLACES, BUT IN OTHERS, SHE IS STUCK IN OBSCURITY! SAD BUT TRUE. THANK GOD I'M FROM CLEVELAND! - -BECKY ------------------------------ End of angry-psychos-digest V1 #31 **********************************
