First of all, let me introduce myself: My name is Jason (aka J.A.K.E.), I'm a 24 year old college student who thinks Poe kicks ass! I am glad to be a part of this new list. Hope it works out well. Arguing/bickering/flaming/otherfunstuff: Experience has told me that for a list to be successful everyone HAS to have respect for each person's opinions and try not get too carried away. Hell, I've seen where there were more "stop arguing" threads than actual arguing at times. This should be fun and informative, right? Good. Radio performance tape tree: Hey Rusty, that is a great idea. Tape trees are one way to make a list great. Every fan wants more of an artist than what their record label is usually ready to give. Go for it, I'm in! Fans, old & new: Every fan who finds an artist early, before that artist becomes a household name, feels there is something unique between him/her and that artist. It just happens and when the masses start finding that artist, they feel betrayed. What you have to realize is that it is inevitable for that artist to be noticed, and for all the reasons why you love him/her. However, it is tough not to point fingers, and say, "You can't possibly like Poe as much as me!" Heh heh. Macarena via Poe concert?: I just saw Poe Thursday with opening acts, Pure and Eels. I already have the story in an e-mail to a friend of mine that I will post after this message. Well, it just so happens that at the show, Eels did a two minute version of that Macarena song (their drummer, Butch, sang the song). I thought it was kinda cool that they just threw it in, for they are not a Macarena-type-band at all. Actually, I have never heard their album (just Novocaine for the Soul) but they really tore it up in concert. Check out thier site and bio at the following web site: www.geffen.com/dreamworks/eels/bio/bio.html Well I will rest now. Let me know if you approve of what I posted or if you think it is just a load of dog feces. Thank you all for listening and hope you all get to enjoy Poe live, there is no substitute. I'm a 17 year old boy who lives in Middletown, CT, which is just off-center of Nowhere. I used to only listen to classical music and show tunes and the occasional oldie but then my sister came back from college with Hole albums and now I listen to every kind of music under the sun. Except country. I heard "Trigger Happy Jack" once on the radio late at night when the DJ doesn't give a fuck about popularity and just plays the music she likes. Then I heard Poe on "Modern Rock Live" and became an instant fan. After searching high and low for her album I finally found it in Boston. Although I do enjoy Poe my first loyalties are to the Beatles, Nirvana, and Sonic Youth. Luckily where my first loyalties lie has absolutely no bearing on life whatsoever. Poe says that her name can stand for anything and I've scratched down some suggestions: Persnickity Old Enemies; Possums Over Everything; Perhaps Over-Enthusiastic; Phallic Objects Exulting; Partial Overbite Eating; Phosphorous-Oxygen Explosion; Probably Overwhelming Experts; Pink Offal Euphoria; Pleasant Olfactory Energy; etc.; etc. I have never seen Poe at a concert. I have, in fact, only been to one rock show in my life, which was a tiny show at a community center in nearby Middlefield where some friends were playing. The only celebrities I've ever met are Kate Moss and Bill Clinton, but I think those two are pretty much enough. Actually, Kate's enough by herself. "I think twinkle is a nice word. So's viridian." I used to speak three languages. I'd like to live in a desert and never die when I grow up. I don't, despite what you're thinking, do drugs. Not even alcohol. My niece's name is Kerste Beth, she's a trucker grrrl. I draw the wacky adventures of MonkeyMan and Caitlin but I can't publish them because somebody's already got the rights to the name MonkeyMan. I read Seventeen magazine and I can't wait until "William Shakespeare's Romeo+Juliet" comes out, but I couldn't tell you why. Well, that's about it. I'll just leave you with one piece of advice: learn how to fucking snip yr messages so we don't have to scroll through the same damn posts five million times when you're arguing "true fandom" and everyone's on the same side.
