SAD BUT TRUE. >THANK GOD I'M FROM CLEVELAND! Power to Cleveland. Maybe you guys will lead the way :-) In Seattle, I first heard of Poe when they played Angry Johnny on the radio. The DJ apologized afterward! I guess he thought the lyrics were too strong. That week I heard it a couple more times and then...it was gone! Perhaps it was the words, but I'm not sure. When my friend came to visit me from San Francisco, I told him about this great new CD I had by someone named Poe. He had never heard of her, so I put it on. When Angry Johnny, he laughed and said "They play this on the radio all the time in the Bay area! I just never knew who it was." Needless to say he liked the CD a lot and plans to buy a copy. So apparently Poe is famous in some places, obscure but well-played in other places, and completely off the radar in the remaining places. I just don't get it. Maybe this is just the standard pattern of a rising star? With most artists, I suppose we usually miss this early phase. .... tony ..... ================================== Experience is the name we give our mistakes. ================================== ------------------------------ From: lilpenny@juno.com Date: Tue, 12 Nov 1996 15:45:35 EST Subject: [none] hello fellow psychos well i am new to this list and just wanted to say that i was turned on to poe by BMG, they had a special section about if you like so and so then try so and so. well they said if you like liz phair then try poe, well i ordered the cd and i wasn't sure what to expect, but i listened to it and i was quite impressed. well anyways i also got to see her at summerfest in milwaukee, which was cool, even though i was on crutches, so i missed being in the crowd i had to sit and just listen to the music, and not able to dance and stuff. well anyways if anyone has an audio copy of that concert and would be willing to make a copy of it for me, i would be willing to send a blank tape to ya. well thanks for your time and feel free to email me if any of you are in the wisconsin area. sean "lilpenny" email:lilpenny@juno.com it's like meeting the girl of your dreams and finding out she is 5 it's like acting carzy when you are already nuts cause anyone can start a conflict, it's harder yet to disregared it one day the world will be ready for you and wonder how they didn't see ------------------------------ From: JD5502@ACSPR1.acs.brockport.edu Date: 12 Nov 96 16:20:56 EST Subject: poe I want to go to cleveland! It is so exciting that Poe is so huge there. I am from the Syracuse area and go to college in the Rochester, ny area. There is only one radio station in both areas that play Poe. The other stations ban her music. The station that does play her mostly only plays "angry johnny" and i first heard that song in August and rushed out to purchase the CD. I did hear Trigger Happy Jack a couple times in the past few weeks which was very exciting and i am waiting to hear "hello" The station totally supports Poe, though, and has sponsered two concerts by her in Rochester already and they are briinging her back in Dec. for their own private holiday concert, the one robby was talking about. Well anyways she is cool no matter what the world thinks and she will always be a big star in my cd player - ---------jody-robin ------------------------------ From: "J.Beadle" Date: Tue, 12 Nov 1996 16:39:05 -0800 Subject: Re: Poe Shirt's Jarrod wrote: > > I agree with SAM. > > POE loves this list.
