Unnikrishnan and screenwriter Udaykrishna revealed through their social media pages that they are engaged with the pre-production work of a film, along with cinematographer Jomon T. John, editor Shameer Muhammed, production controller Aroma Mohan and Mohandas. In October, they revealed that the film would feature Mohanlal in the leading role, in which he plays a villager and will have a rural story. Filmng was set to begin in mid-November after Mohanlal has completed filming Drishyam 2. The film marks the first collaboration between Unnikrishnan and Udaykrishna and Mohanlal's fifth time with the former. Unnikrishnan said that they estimate a budget of ?18 crore, in which ?30 lakh is allotted for COVID-19 precautions, and the film would have a larger than usual crew by COVID-19 pandemic standards, which would take 60 days to shoot.
