If you are interested in finding out where alot of new songs have either stolen samples, lyrics or beats from... or if you've heard a new song and want to find out who originally wrote it... go to this website. http://www.audioautopsy.com It's full of old and new music information, and the great thing is, you can add your own entries to the database if you want. I hope you find it interesting. Cheers, Kerry Emerson ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Feb 2002 09:24:42 -0600 From: Geenius at Wrok Subject: Is this it? Apologies if this has already been covered -- I did a Google search and couldn't find anything on it. The other day I saw the announcement that Jian Ghomeshi had been chosen as the new host of CBC arts and entertainment show "Play." The CBC press release described him as "a lead singer" of Moxy Fr|vous, but it looks like all the published press clips read that as "THE lead singer." Anyway, this makes me think two things: First, the band can hardly re-form and tour if one of its members has the responsibility of hosting a weekly television show. Second, if I were one of the other members of a noted ensemble band, it might rankle me to see one of our number described as "THE lead singer," even if it was clearly an error on the part of the press. The first thought alone seems to suggest that Moxy Fr|vous' days as a single entity are over, and if things were headed toward that result anyway, the second thought seems like the sort of thing that could possibly seal it. Has anyone heard anything definite lately that would indicate that Moxy Fr|vous WILL be reuniting (or, if you prefer, demonstrating their continued unity)? - -- Up not down for down is the devil So roll like a boulder and not like a pebble Keith Ammann is geenius@cifnet.com www.cifnet.com/~geenius * Lun Yu 2:24 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Feb 2002 10:27:37 -0600 (CST) From: Lynne Subject: Is this it? As far as I know, the band has not EVER said that they won't perform again. I have heard one member say that they will do shows again. 2/4ths are not that keen on touring. So, MY ASSUMPTION, is they will NEVER do a huge US tour, but there will be a future show or two in Toronto. I heard that the band members presented at a class at Univ of Toronto on the thursday or Friday before the frucon, they still hang, but not everyone wants the grueling touring schedule... ..and won't we appreciate a fruvous show 1000X more when there is one.. - -lynne - ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Sun, 24 Feb 2002 09:24:42 -0600 From: Geenius at Wrok To: ammf@fruvous.com Newsgroups: alt.music.moxy-fruvous Subject: Is this it? Did you attempt to notify people who don't have 'net access that a con was taking place to hope for a bigger turnout? Or maybe the ones who don't read the NG or visit the Fruhead pages? I can remember back to FCII where the biggest complaint was that there was a lot of fruheads who were offline or didn't read the NG but we were sure wanted to attend the con and eventually attended the con even though they didn't hear about it online. Some members of that committee were only focusing on the "online" aspect of it and couldn't see beyond their keyboard. For some reason a few of us couldn't get that point across that you have to go further than the 'net to get a hold of those people. That's why fliers were handed out for FCII and it was announced at shows - to spread the word. There must've been a list of the people who bought tickets from ticketweb that could've been notified to the tune of an email like: "Hey! We're having another con this year and the tickets are being sold through the same place you bought them from last year. Tell your friends about the con." Since this year, there weren't shows that had announcements by Jian about the con or places to hand out fliers. > Something I'm pretty sure most of you guys don't know is that Con 5 > lost money. And FCII (you may not know that). A few of us put out our own money for the set up of that and things needed in advance. I always thought that the con was started because the fans of Fruvous wanted to get together. Seeing people that we haven't seen in a long time between shows. It was originally arranged to be held that weekend because of a show to entice people to come to the con (and if you didn't know, a lot of ppl didn't go to that first con because they had issues that the OCAC concert and the con were connected). Are we safe to say that some people will not make the trip to see their 'friends' unless Fruvous is going to be there in some way, shape or form? I think some are missing the point of the "FruHEAD convention." (this statement about the con is no reflection on the committee because I know how much work it is to put this con together. This needs to be said because many people on this NG did not attend the first con, were not around for the 1st con and are star struck when hearing that Fruvous was at the 1st one assuming that they will be at future ones so they can rub elbows.) That's too bad. I would've went to the con hadn't I been sick. But oh well - can't help sicknesses that start in December (or prior) and don't go away during the winter months. Yeah, that was a whine. But I guess I'll just save my very lack o'money for the summer 'fan' convention of 'Whose Line' in July for 3 days. :) It will be warm and located in the lovely downtown Toronto area! yee haa! =D Christine. ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V6 #46 *******************************************
