It was on "Father" at the end of the set, and it was completely amazing. I really enjoyed the show; not having heard any of Jian's solo material before, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was very pleased. If forced to make comparisons to Fruvous (which I do think is unfair), I would say that his work sounds "Thornhill," but with a slightly edgier, more electric sound, and great percussion (I thought his drummer last night was fantastic), which is what you would expect from a percussionist. Also, he didn't play exactly the same setlist as at The Point; we didn't hear "Fly" or "Downsizing," but I couldn't tell you what he played (if anything) in their place. Anybody know? Liddy. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Oct 2001 00:54:30 -0400 From: Lori Martin Subject: Re: Jian at the IH 10/26/01 Adam Hartfield wrote: > "Dudes > Carrying Stuff" song or whatever. Well, if it was the same set she played at the Point, it was a Dolly Parton song. - -- Lori ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Oct 2001 07:50:03 GMT From: ironcladlou Subject: Re: Jian at the IH 10/26/01 Lori Martin spewed forth the following: >> "Dudes >> Carrying Stuff" song or whatever. > > "All the Young Dudes". David Bowie. Dood! I'd have to say that the Freddie Mercury tribute concert version of this was my favorite, although seeing Ian Hunter (? The guy from Mott the Hoople), David Bowie with a saxophone, Queen, and the vast majority of Def Leppard onstage together was a bit weird. - -- ironcladlou "I have misplaced my pants." - Homer Jay Simpson ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Oct 2001 12:37:06 -0600 From: Keith Robert Rose Subject: Insanity on the Airwaves 10/28/2001 Just a friendly reminder (though be it a late one) that "Insanity on the Airwaves" will be on the air this afternoon spinning some new material from Throwing Toasters and others. Well, that would explain it then! Perhaps the song (does anyone know the title of it?) is on one of the three DP albums I own. - --Adam adamh1@mediaone.net ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V5 #286 ********************************************
