I'm just back from my holiday and my wife Ruth & we have been talking about coming to Canada in Summer 2002. Trouble is, we don't know a lot about Canada except for: 1) Moxy Fruvous 2) There are rocks & trees (according to The Arrogant Worms) - oh, and water apparently. 3) There are some folk festivals that we'd like to investigate (one at least) 4) It's rather bigger than England ;-) We're thinking about going for a couple of weeks next August - probably rent a car & do some camping too, maybe youth hostels too. There seems to be quite a lot of Canada so we assume there must be plenty of places to camp. So, could anyone out there recommend an interesting area to visit / any folk festivals / camping areas (wild camping preferred)? Any help would be really appreciated. I've taken big car trips around both eastern and western Canada and would recommend either. Places that stick out in my mind: Prince Edward Island. Beautiful landscape (blue sky, green countryside, red earth), cheap lobster and other seafood, plus one of the best Celtic/Folk festivals in the New World - but check to make sure it's still going strong in August, because it's a summertime event, and I was there in July. Quibec City. Pretty spot on the St. Lawrence River, walled old city on a cliff and narrow-streeted "Bas Ville" below on the riverbank. Canadian Rockies. Banff is the famous tourist spot, but I'd recommend Jasper instead. It's a bit farther north, so you'd have a good chance of seeing fall colors if you were there in August. I've only camped in the American portion of Glacier National Park, but I would imagine the Canadian part is every bit as good (maybe better!). Vancouver & Victoria are both beautiful (west coast) cities, but I was all of nine years old the last time I visited either, so I'm afraid I can't offer any specifics. Apologies for being vague - I do hope you get more useful help from someone else. I wanna read other people talking about Moxy Fruvous. I miss discussing stuff about Moxy Fruvous and stuff related to Moxy Fruvous and stuff completely unrelated to Moxy Fruvous but still sharing some link in the twisted minds of those discussing it. I miss the so-called Moxy Fruvous community. I miss my friends, so-called FruHeads. And I miss Moxy Fruvous. And I'm ranting about it because I am incredibly bored and have nothing else to do... so bored in fact that I have been reading horoscopes on AOL! AGH! I'm in serious trouble here! :P - -g ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V5 #238 ********************************************
