Someone from the U.S. that likes Fruvous and other Canadian bands. Slap the cuffs on me now. At least I don't vote Republican. Astonaut probably could be simper too but it sounds good anyhow and with Lousy Boy I think I would drop the back up vocals too. Baby don't lie to me is great, as is Father. I am enjoying the album alot.. Turned out great. It definatly satisfied my Jian-Fruvous withdrawl.. can't wait to see him again on Aug 9 in Rochester. There's my 2 cents.. :) See some of you there I'm sure! There's my 2 > cents.. :) Okay, and if we're doing currency exchanges here's my .02 as well. (Combine my and Jill's offerings and you'll have a little more than a beaver-faced nickel!) 1) Astronaut and Don't Lie To Me are snappy and really rock. I am disappointed that Chomsky was ditched in favor of the phone book in DLTM, but I like the overall sound, and I think DLTM is well tailored to radio release. 2) Natalia is not my favorite song anyway, but the recorded version seems *extremely* mechanical to me. In a way it strikes me that Jian may have intentionally engineered the recording that way -- the weariness and methodical instrumentation reflect the joyless, resigned state of mind of the narrator. But still it doesn't work for me. 3) Father -- The first time I heard the song, back at the Rivoli in February, I loved the passion and clarity of expression in this song, and it loses nothing in the recording. I think it's the best song, and best arrangement, on the EP. 4) Quebec City works well, but it does have more clarity and spark live. I really enjoyed it at FRFF. 5) Lousy Boy -- this is another one I prefer live. Like Natalia, again it sounds mechanical to me on the EP. Stochansky's backing vocals don't distract me as much as the "canned" sound does. Overall, I think it's highly listenable, with 4 tracks I dig. I'm especially pleased with the "rockier" tracks, so I'm really looking forward to Jian's full-length "rock" album. - -- Lori ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Aug 2001 22:10:40 -0400 From: "muzakgurl" Subject: Re: Fruhead songs being released to the masses... Even though I have no idea how to track down the 5 missing fruheads, I have to put my two cents ....today. I think that the frustamp/song idea is great and an absolutely fabulous project... and listening to Krista's song, it reminded me, once again that Moxy Fruvous is and will continue to be a band for their fans. It's a gesture that only a band who remains true to their past and the people whom brought them to where they are today/and are going would do and I highly admire Moxy Fruvous for putting forth the effort.... I'm turning to frumush right.... (sigh) I miss them ....
