Jian wrote it, thought it was too cheesy (possibly to record on the last album), but he's been receiving more and more compliments on it and I think he's been performing it live on his solo dates - -adam ------------------------------ Date: 9 Jun 2001 05:47:08 -0700 From: fruvy@Yahoo.com (Sally Block) Subject: Re: Something I've been wondering Geenius at Wrok wrote: > Is "Follow the Road" a Fr|vous original or a cover? Hey I don't think it's a Fr|vous Orignal so much as a Jian original. Wait for his new album which should be out in a few months for a recorded version of it :) Sally ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 09 Jun 2001 13:30:53 -0400 From: Lori Martin Subject: Birthdays X-ammf-Approved: 0 Happy day to Chrissy! Wow, I remember your handle from a long time ago on this newsgroup. Allow me to answer. Follow the Road isn't a Fr|vous original, it's a Jian original. First performed sometime around Spring/Summer 98, it was played two or three times as an opening song for those shows at which the band "opened for themselves". I think the only time Jian actually played it during a Fr|vous show was during the Northampton show (10/30/98) featuring the BJ and Rachel story. Since this December, when Jian began to play gigs by himself, the song has enjoyed a nice renaissance, much to the delight of new and old fans alike. I'm sure that eventually he will record it, even if it's not in the near future. Kath ahem. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 Jun 2001 22:56:11 +0200 From: "Kate Leahy" Subject: Re: FRUHEAD plate What was that about the way Jian smells? Oh. At times, it seems more like a military training brief in urban camouflage with a really nice soundtrack than a proper music video.... "We've hidden all four members of Moxy Fruvous somewhere in this video... Dave, Mike, and Murray, will you stand up, please?" I remember Jian commenting on its randomness at the New Brunswick concert.... something like "...and then one of our fans came up to us and asked us 'What the hell does that mean?' and I had to say 'I don't know!'" But I must admit, Jian did look *really* cute... ~sk ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 Jun 2001 18:37:01 -0500 From: Geenius at Wrok Subject: Re: Something I've been wondering On Sat, 9 Jun 2001, Katherine Maheux wrote: > I think the only time Jian actually played it during a Fr|vous show was > during the Northampton show (10/30/98) featuring the BJ and Rachel > story. Wow. And I was there. I guess I thought it had gotten played more often than that. (Actually, I was under the impression that it was one of those songs they covered regularly, like "Jockey" and "Misstra Know-It-All.") But what a song. I can't believe Jian thought it was weak. The rhyme scheme totally makes it. Look forward to seeing (hearing) it on a Jian disc. And how weird is it that I just happened to ask this on his birthday? Didn't even know it was his birthday till I saw the other post. - -- "Respectful disagreement between people of goodwill is of course democratically natural and healthy and, when you come right down to it, kind of fun." -- David Foster Wallace =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Live with honor, endure with grace "I notice you have a cloud of doom.
